Taught gun safety to a bunch of kids today with a TSS

Today, out at the grandparents’ farm, I got to teach half a dozen kids gun safety. They were my cousins’ kids, age 4-9. I used the .22 TSS on CO2.

Just the basics: never point a gun at amything you don’t want to shoot, only touch a gun with an adult, that kind of thing. They thought it was awesome, the older kids got to shoot pop cans using the scope and laser. Lots of parents and grandparents taking pictures. I even bought a shorter 9oz CO2 tank for this purpose.

After that, the adults and older kids got to play with a new .45 long colt levergun my uncle just bought.

Pretty cool time with five generations out on the family farm.

I took my 15 year-old son out yesterday and taught him the basics of shotgunning with an 870 and 11-87, both in 12 gauge. He did well. We then came home and I showed him how to clean a shotgun. I did the 11-87, and he did the 870. We also cleaned my Ruger MKII x 2. The 5 1/4″ gun was really dirty. What a great pistol to be able to continue to function when so dirty. I cleaned my 5 1/4″bbl and he cleaned the 6 7/8″bbl. That was good. 😀

High five Elsolo! Good job. 😀

Sounds like fun. It’s never to early to start gun safety. Kids are curious. The more you teach them, the less likely they are to handle them without an adult. I have been teaching both of my daughters (4 and 7) the general gun safety as well. They love to shoot my .177 pistol.
