Yeah the factory grip will do that … I used to put steel wool in mine to slow down the air flow thru the gaps and that worked well too.
A wooden forearm made to the right dimesions seals up that air chamber and improves the sound deadening 🙂
I vented mine some time ago. Even with foam in the fore arm it gave me a puff of air in the face! Sealed it back up.

I never did nj….never vented the bushing on a 24″ either….

I always vent the front bushing and frame on all of my rifles. When I make a custom forend out of laminate I create a void with a bottoming bit for the air to escape into … makes a real difference in the sound level 🙂
I’m a firm believer that venting the frame will add unwanted noise 😉
I have never vented other than the front bushing, all is good :
I would think having a hole or holes in the frame would make more noise and compromise the structural integrity of the frame.
Actually not really, but the noise would have a place to go.
With a vented bushing only it is locked within the gun.
Some guys have done it, I never have.
My Talon 25 20″, J3 modded valve, with vented front bushing and a GTBJ hush hush is very acceptable noise wise.

i did NOT vent the barrel/frame/shroud bushing, only the bushing that i fitted over the muzzle of the barrel.
but…i have almost 8″ of expansion chamber in front of the muzzle and the vented bushing and 5″ of expansion behind the vented bushing for a total of 13″… the noise is contained between the muzzle cap and the barrel/frame/shroud bushing. (in theory, anyway)
i replaced the forearm with solid oak furniture and am in the process of making a solid grip for the pistol grip.
