Q:

Texan losing power

Guys,

I know a guy who has a problem with his Texan, he says that its gradually losing power to a point where it will now only open the valve at 1500psi. Normal fill pressure was 3000psi. The cocking is silky smooth and still enough tension on the hammer spring when closing the lever.

It doesn’t sound like the problem is the cocking side. Is it possible that the valve could be locking up for some reason?
Any help appreciated.

Texan

Something else to check is how the seal engages into the valve seat. It maybe flattened to the point where the hammer has too hard of a time to open at full pressure. Would require just a new seal to sort that out.

Agreed Gippeto, I suggested he open the valve. We’ll see what the outcome is.

Stab in the dark…de gas and pull the top hat off…guessing the o-ring underneath the top hat is dry or something is damaged. Continuing to run it when you (or your buddy) know it’s not right could be making things worse and more $$$

Or leave it alone and contact AF as it’s on warranty?

Al
