Q:

Texan owners, what power are your Texans really making

Mine will give 3 good shots around 980 ave fps with 166gn bullets don’t remember what that worked out to in fpe. Most fpe ever for mine was 470 with 350 gn. Ive not put anything heavier in it but I know there are others who have gotten over the 500 fpe advertised with 400+ ammo. Took me a lot of time over the chrony to see how to dial down the power wheel for different weight ammo. Not at all like condor. Not to offend at all but if you’ve already figured all that out and still can’t do better I would send it back cause at least some will. Your lighter stuff sounds right on as should be but while the heavy stuff will slow down you should be able to adjust wheel to make fpe increase with weight. Again not to question anyone’s skill with the wheel just saying send it back. My only warning as far as fact vs advertisement is shot count. I don’t know how many shot I could get but I only count the number of shots that will group acceptably at the distance I shoot coyote and for me that is three shots with really only two being real close in fps.I have got the 166gn up to 1000 fps by the way but on that setting the next shot drops way down so I find a weight I like(light for me) then work the wheel till I find a setting that will give me three tight shots as far as fps spread and leave it there. Took some time and bullets. Hope this is useful to someonr

350 foot pounds is tops for mine. heavy pellets making less than light pellets,, from 500 feet per second with the 405 grains to 1070 Feet per second with the 146 grain round balls. 3 different pressure gages showing 3000 psi, and the temp being 75 degreeze, and the elevation is 2450 ASL, using a chrono to test speed and 2 layman scales digital to make sure the grains is what they are supposed to be for measuring the over all figures. I don’t think one needs to be as sufisticated as that , but people ask a lot of questions so I try to be precise with my gun as I can. Mine wont get near 500 foot pounds.;) Ive even been criticized over my spelling,'””whats that got to do with my gun?” True numbers. My Corse air 308 gets close to 200 FPDS ‘s and will mall a heavy lowe’s 4×4 and keep going. Had to use that for comparison.;) that’s my input,,. still waiting on the forum Magicians to fill us in on their secret on how to get that 500+ FPD’s.;) Not complaining .. :fishinghole:
