The HERD…
Finally got around to setting up a room in my house for my guns. I have most of them here except for project guns…and some home defense guns I have scattered about.
This room was intended to be a bathroom in the basement and blocked in. I’ll put a steel door on it and that will make for a nice walk in gun safe.
When walking in, this is what you see….
Turn to the left…
…and to the right….
There are two rifle racks….
two pistol racks….
Some PCP’s…
Some carbines….
some springers…
…and some guns in a cabinet.
There are a few firearms scattered about, but not too many.

First of all, I truly appreciate everyone’s comments and compliments. I’ve worked hard for what I have. I make a good living, but would not be considered ‘rich’.
I work a standard full time job as well as working on a second job 3 nights a week. (no, not male prostitution)
I have no kids.
11 years ago when I got out of the Army, I was divorced and quite frankly didnt have a pot to piss in. Luckily, I spent my time in the Army wisely and this allowed me the opportunity to land a good job.
I guess the point of this is that I’ve not been just handed things. I’ve worked hard for what I have. I know sometimes we see people who have had the world by the balls since birth and it really strikes a nerve. I’m not one of those people…. true, I’ve been very fortunate and even lucky at times…. and I realize and appreciate it.

What is above? Is it floor? If so the main thing your looking at in the case of a fire is water penetration from the fire department.
If your worried about fire inside the room and you have bare framing above, throw a couple layers of 5/8″ drywall up there and be sure to misalign the seams and fire caulk the edges to seal the “cap” of the room.
If you have any pipes or such, fire caulk around those as well, there are also special collars you can get that provide various levels of protection…
2 layers of 5/8″ gyp with caulking will provide 1 full hour (probably more, depends on the floor framing dimensions) of fire protection of the floor above with a fire inside the room.
If you have any questions shoot me a PM I can help you add some water and fire protection (sound as well) if you need it. It’s what I do. 😆
I appreciate the help. I dont readily see how a fire could start in the room itself, but yes… should a fire start in the house, then there would be the chance of water going down through the roof of my room…. but I need to see just what kind of chance as much of the space in the ceiling is outside….

you might want to paint the walls with water blocking paint to keep moisture from getting in there

When the SHTF I’m heading to Robs. You know Rob, that comment about the R9 matches what I read somewhere else. That it was such a pleasure to shoot. Something like, 90% of an R1 with 70% the cocking effort/weight/firing behavior etc. Now if you could just match the quantity of ammo you’d need for all that iron…..Wait that would cause a national shortage……nevermind. 😆
