Q:

The one truly great thing regarding the new Crosman .357…

now all us dreamers will actually have a hopefully smooth working Big Bore magazine system to build mechnical breeches around

What I am thinking is a 9mm Breech using the Marauder tube and a TerryX stock
pure mechnical, no silly electronics
use a magpul PRS stock to get the proper cheekweld needed for the taller breech

even at $950.00 that leaves a builder quite a bit of room to build a better mousetrap for these magazines

If a bad guy wants a silenced gun he can easily get or make one. Hell, what about a crossbow? Instead of trying to get this one squashed how about we work at getting silencers their freedom back?

quote BUTCHER45:

Cool. Were those all shot off of the regulated tank? The five shot group at fifty resembles a bigbore airgun group shooting off it’s own reservoir considering the power level

If I shot consistent 3 inch groups at 100 yards I’d be pretty happy! I need to start doing more long range shooting…..I just practice out to 50yards most of the time sinceI don’t shoot critters any further out than that.

Yes, they were all shot at a consistant 3700 psi output. I know I could improve the groups with practice. This thing has to be very hold sensitive. Think about how long that barrel is and how slow that slug is moving. The initial “jerk” of the shot has to move you off your point of aim somewhat before that slug exits the barrel. I shot those off of bags. I think it would do better if not using bags but rather “planting” the bipod forward. That is how I will try it next time if I don’t sell it.

It’s not the big bore I have a problem with. It is the fact that it is a factory sound modified, large caliber, multi-shot weapon, readily available to absolutely anyone who has a computer. There is no background check, no store to visit, no fingerprints, no face shown, no dealer necessarily involved, in the purchase of a quiet, powerful weapon, easily capable of misuse by criminals, nutcases, gang members, and the casual, uninformed, internet shopper who ends up killing someone when they miss the cat, rat, or possum in their backyard, and that monster slug punches through the pine fences, like we had in Dallas.

If and when that happens, ALL pcp airguns will come under a microscope by legislators. I don’t want my sound modified rifles outlawed.

Mass production, unregulated internet sales, of these powerful pcp rifles is going to ruin it for us all. I can just about guarantee it. 100 FPE may not equal a powder rifle, but it is certainly more than enough to go through a human skull at very respectable distances!

This was my first thought, as well. Then I got to thinking…you’d need a tank to charge it….3-5 shots…4 feet long….eh – maybe not. Time will tell – I’m hoping such action would be more trouble than it’s worth. But, I do agree that all airguns are on the fast track to being regulated as firearms. It will only take one incident…the knee-jerk media and their soccer-mom, morning-show, dim-witted minions will take care of the rest

Butcher,

I really don’t have any place to Chrony it…I would need some more indoor space and I can only shoot it at the range which is very hard for me to get to nowadays…The best groups I shot with it at 100 yards were 3″ ctc with Cedric’s 309gr HP’s. Honestly, I know this rifle can shoot better. It takes some getting used to on the perfect hold, etc and I have not had enough time and opportunity to get to know it.

Here is a three shot group @50 following my site in with the scope:

Here is a Bullseye @50 yards

Here is a five shot group @50 yards

Good thing my hobby is “pellet guns” and not Big bores, because this nonsense of 3-5 shots is just a deal breaker. At leas the electronics allow more shots.

But in 10 years those electronics will have as much support as a Macintosh computer has now.

Kind of my sentiment on my JH .457 and the reason why I “impulse” purchased a regulator to attach to a “buddy tank”. I suppose if one considers the big bore from what it was truly meant to be—a Hunting rig– than the three shots will suffice. Alas I am more of a plinker than hunter, hence the reason mine is up for sale.

Are you going to share some groups/shot strings with us before you part with it?

There is more information available now.

A video indicates that sucker is a very long rifle. I don’t care for ultra long pcp rifles. This thing looks longer than a Condor with a shroud on it.

That’s just a bit over the top for me.

anyone who thinks the price point will prevent some hillbilly pot farmer from purchasing one really doesnt have a clue regarding the income levels we are talking about here

Ya, ya we know you are getting one already 😆

100 Db is not silent however it is reasonably quiet
silence is really a subjective thing
for example the Sionacs suppressors used on MAC SMgs ran upwards of 170Db once you factored in action noise
even the best cans by Dater and AWC really have a hard time getting much under 90Db
Airgun cans are seriously primitive

100 db is not quiet. lol

my concern while similar, differs from your own Hoot
I really DO NOT see these used by Gang Bangers and the like
that said there is no question in my mind is they will turn up in Drug Raids sooner or later and will take center stage in media coverage once some idiot chief of police comments on these silent killers capable of punching holes through police body armor that can be purchased cash & carry with no background check.
anyone who thinks the price point will prevent some hillbilly pot farmer from purchasing one really doesnt have a clue regarding the income levels we are talking about here
trust me, some idiot cop will squawk that way to the press…seen it many many times over the years
thats the danger as it looks machingunish to the average dummy and if Crosman starts running El Gammo big game killing videos you better believe the media will take the data out of context to promote the story.

comparisons to black powder are invalid, show me a silenced, repeating, big bore BP rifle that looks like an assault rifle you might have a point
thing is you cant legally silence black powder without it being under the NFA

straight on the mark Adam
hopefully the electronics are using standard eproms or mainstream ICs we can buy from Digikey and hack

RC:
Goes both ways…
I agree if it was anything but a Crosman offer there would be some now cursing it that would accept it with open arms
that said most of its most feverent hypers would scowl and pout had it the FX branding

Tom, Lord of the GAYs really spun this one badly
first off the numbers I am now hearing from folks on site is around 100+ FPE with a 90+ Db report
thats not identical to firearms in power nor is it even close to Marauder quiet,
then again your suppressed Ruger was likely running just under that with action noise.
Running a opened up UK mfg Ripley can on my .308 QB build at close to 200 FPE
supposidly the best AG suppressor in the industry and using a Db meter its still around 100 Db
my bet is the Crosman Db numbers are being generated on the lowest FPE setting just like the shot count
The shroud volume on this rig seems quite small given projectile diameter and air flow.

No one should interpet this as a slam against the Rogue, while I detest a TV screen on the side of my rifle I will likely be a buyer
