Theoben Rapid Machinists Help!
I have an idea for a stock for a Theoben Rapid… I want to do something similar to the Nemesis Vanquish… I cant find any good pics, but here are some:
You depress the little button to collapse/extend the stock. How hard would this type of mechanism be to make?
This is the overall design of the rifle.
Here you can sort of see the notches in the arms that connect the butt pad/cheek piece that act as stops…

Thoughts? I’m trying to build a compact Rapid that can be packed up into a small case. Plus it looks cool. :8: It’s going to be a .25 caliber, w/a 500cc tank. Not sure about how long the barrel is going to be yet- but probably around 14″? I will have to measure it. It’s also going to be relatively low power, only 30-40 fpe… that should help the silencer even more. Especially given the shorter barrel. Thanks for any help!!

Well, I’ve gone and done it again… I’ve just picked this up:
The trigger guard/grip mount will be similar to the BA110… by Savage arms:
I’m hoping I can still keep this rifle Short when all collapsed down. At the very least, I should still be well under the OAL of an M4 fully collapsed. :8: 😈
Ernie and CaVarminter are really the only one’s so far that have responded… and most of the posts I’ve seen are from waaaay back. nothing much that’s new. It is sad!! I got hooked onto Rapids because of that site… 👿

A shame, as it was a really good forum until he went power mad. Looks like Steve at the Yellow is trying on the same shoes. Hope he comes to his senses before he collapse the site.

Oh, I have another “Rapid” build, but based on the Dawson receiver. It’s going to be a .30 cal. THAT one is getting the PRS stock, because it’ll be my mid-range rifle. But for this Rapid, I want a breakdown rifle. Very much similar to the Nemesis Arms Vanquish. The PRS stock doesn’t collapse. I’m not even using a full shroud- I have to go with a threaded one so that I can take it off when packing the rifle away. I’m basically trying to build an air version of the Vanquish for pesting. I’m a huge fan of the tactical look, but without being “tacticool”… I want to be able to do something like this:
But I can’t do that without it being as compact as possible. Estimated OAL when collapsed will be 23.5″. But that’s because of the 500cc tank. I want the larger tank though, for a better shot curve and more shots. It’s only going to be a 30fpe rifle. That’s more compact than even an issued M4… 😈
