I contacted Doug (dyotat100) a few weeks ago about helping me with a bottle and regulator set up for my Condor .25. He agreed. I asked that the set up shoot Benjamin Domes28.5g at 975 or less. I discovered that at that 975fps is on the ragged edge of flight stabilization. Any faster and the groups start to open up. 🙁
I found that 850ish is the sweet spot for Benjamin Dome pellets and ½”
groups @ 50 yards are very possible. 😀
The problem I was running into was at 950fps my gun would only give me 12 good shots with a self imposed SD of 5. If I went to 10 on the SD I could get 17.
I know, I’m picky but Hey! 😆
But when the shots were up into the 870ish speeds, I could get 20 shots but the groups opened up to 1” or larger. I know I shot 300 pellets with every combination of top hat, power wheel and pressure possible.

During the conversation Doug talked me into (yea, right) a barrel guided hammer. He also had a spare bottle for an SS I’m trying to resurrect. If it has anything to do with air, Doug is da man! :8:

Also on a barrel guided hammer, you don’t have to worry as much about the frames internal variances and polishing the interior walls of the frame

Doug can explain the concept much better than I can. Drop him a PM. It’s his baby. All I know is it works. 😀
What I’ve been able to to tell from the very limited time I’ve had to shoot it is, it reduces the harshness of the hammer hitting the breach and reducing the recoil. This mod should improve both accuracy (by reducing the recoil) and hammer strike consistency (“hammer chatter”) which can cause inconsistent top hat strikes. Another surprise benefit it really helps quiet the gun down by having the O ring on the hammer where it strikes the breach.

I think that the combination of both the regulator and the hammer is one of the better modifications you can do to your gun. :thumb:

I hate asking stupid questions but I have to learn what is a barrel guided hammer and is that different from stock and how so? What are the benefits? That is one HELL of a kick ass string.
Looking forward to putting lead down range. I guess I’m going to have come up with a whole new set of excuses why I miss what I’m shooting at. 😯
With a string like that, you should be able to laser em in! 😀

I just hope your gun shoots the same as mine. Seems like my .25 is on steriods.
My .25 shot 20+ fps more then another one I built. Didn’t matter what pressure was in the tank. Take a shot and then move the tank to my gun and it would be 20+ fps more then the last shot with other gun.
Worst case you send your valve and the reg setup back and I will bump up the fps.

Shoot all day with a couple of fills, like the new tank.
