Q:

This is a TEST ==== HELP!!!

This is a Test of the Jerry’s Kids Slugs.

I’ve been having some strange results with different pellets recently. Wit Kod’s in the .25, at 50 yards it will give any where from 1.25 down to 1/8″ at 50. but seems super hold sensitive. I have to be super careful. And at times, it just loves to throw a crazy flier with no apparent reason. ow here is the real shocker. I would have thought that when going heavier and heavier, it would have a harder time stabilizing the slug’s. Especially since a slug doesn’t have a skirt to help stabilize the projectile. After all. Ever where you go, it is said that a air gun bbl. won’t properly stabilize a bullet!
The results are even more baffling. To me at least.

6 ring at 50 yds. 2 to 2.5 inches.
7 ring at 50 yds. 1 1/2 to 2 inches.

9 ring, Shock! how about .17 ctc. A fluke I figured, so I shot two more groups. both Match grade groups! Now why in heck wont the Kod’s do this? And why the very heavy slug’s?
I ordered some JSB’s in .25 to try out. I love the fact that the heavy 9 rings slugs are ultra accurate in my gun, But! I would like a accurate pellet for every day tree rat and rabbit!

The results were .251 / 5 shot group
.176 / 3 shot group
.108 :shock:/ shot group This is by far the tightest group I have ever shot with a high powered air gun. And with Jerry’s Kid’s Sure Fire Slug’s. I’m tempted to call b/s on myself. I’m just not believing what I am seeing here. and as old Elmer Keith once said. Hell, I was There!

What speeds were you shooting the various pellets at Mike?

Slowest slug would have been the 9 ring… Any connection there??

Interesting thought. The 9 rings would definitely be the slowest even if the gun was dialed to max for them and normal for the others. The 9 rings will also have the greatest recoil though and usually that would seem to indicate less accuracy especially if something is loose.

With a 21″ barrel, this gun shoots strong but not as hot as some 24″ guns I’m aware of…unless something has changed that Mike didn’t mention.

I’m starting to wonder about the crown and/or choke of this barrel. Is it possible that somethig not right there that affects the smaller slugs more?

Is this gun shrouded? It might be worth trying this set again without the shroud if it is. Obviously the 9 rings are not clipping…

Good point Jerry! I was wondering the same thing with my .25 accuracy issues. The best groups I had between the kodiaks, E.J’s, and 7 rings, were by far the 7 rings. I am not claiming these results to be counterintuitive (as we all know these slugs are marvels of casting genius), but most have had the best results with the smaller .25 kodiaks. I sent mine back to Tony and he will go over it to discover why I am having these accuracy issues. I will post his findings.

Knife, please keep us informed on your discoveries as I am very curious with this being so close to my .25 issue.

Hey Knifemaker.
My name is Glannwaugh I read your post I’m capable to solve your test
but the problem is that you have not mention about the how to solve
and if the right solution what is my price?
Thanks.

Hey Knifemaker.
Myself Millermccullum and I read your entire posting. I am getting your question. I will try to find out the answer of your question. If I will get appropriate solution of it I will send it to you. Anyways Thanks and Stay Connected.

Well, this time It had the shroud on, but about the same without. I’m thinking crown. Walt from Hawaii did a fine job, but I can’t leave anything alone. 😆 I just had to polish it just in case of any burr’s. Which of course it didn’t have. It’s just me. I just never know when to stop tinkering.

I shot several Kodiak groups at 40 yards today that were under 1/2 inch. But most were right at 1 inch.
We have 7000 of the new JSB’s on the way. More test! 😉 😀

I had a clipping problem on hpa, but not on co2, before.

Actually, Timmy is working on an international order for 2000 slugs right now. Apparently, some people plink with authority!

I’ve seen interesting and counter-intuitive results before. I’ve had guys with clipping they didn’t realize and others that thought they were making decent power but were not, and others that found their gun liked the 6 or 7 a little better.

For the highest power guys, the 9 rings have always been good if not the best. These results seem odd though. I have to wonder if there is something about the barrel that impacts the lighter slugs but not the really long, heavy ones. Strange that whatever it is would affect the 6 and 7 ring slugs more than the Kodiaks though…?

I would go through the gun looking for the usual suspects of loose screws, bad o-rings and also examine the barrel carefully. Any cahnce that it was machined such that the choke was lost? Is the choke at the right end? Is the choke too abrupt/short? I’m not sure why the 9 ring would be impervious to any of these issues but the difference in accuracy is HUGE!

Or, you could just kick back and order more slugs for your sub-half MOA gun!

nice now go and buy 2-3000 so u have some plinkin ammo

So what’s the problem? You found the slug your gun likes best. Some people search for years! 😆

😆
Your a lot of help! 😉

I know what it was.

The pellets did not stabalize at all, not even a little. It hit slightly oblong making a slightly larger than normal hole. Then, you shot several more shots, but none of them hit the paper. This made it look VERY small, but in reality was between 3 and 5 feet.

😛

That’s awesome though! Does anyone have that good of groups from these guns with any other pellet?

Full target showing the huge difference of the different weights in my bbl. The Horizontal string are 7 Ring Slug’s and the vertical string are the 6 Ring. I thought I was out of air, but the third group of the 9 ring Slugs were shot next and by far the smallest!
I’m completely stumped!

These squares are only 3/8″. Not the typical 1/2″ targets you normally see.
