Q:

This IS the Droid we were looking for ;-)

While working on the lathe fabricating a barrel adapter for another member, :hoot: best friend came up and asked if I would like to shoot his AnDroid phone with the Talon-P…

But of course…
His company Droid phone took a dump recently, battery swelled popping loose the front glass bulging the back etc, they replaced the phone and he kept the old one as Talon-P fodder.
Recently swapped in the TT QCTH, shooting .25″ JSB Exact KIngs at 980 FPS, first shot was clean pass through, second shot absorbed as it broke through back of battery, same with third shot from an angle.

No real point to this other than, because we can… 😎

I would suspect not, considering the SAPI plates in body armor aren’t made with carbon fiber… all Kevlar and ceramic. Still too heavy for my liking. What I would like to see is a SAPI plate the thickness of the old steel plates, with protection from at least a .30 centerfire that are at least half the weight of the current ESAPI’s. Now THAT would be awesome… The new helmets are lighter, and provide more ballistic protection than the one’s when I first went into the service. They only weigh about 3 lbs now, w/o night vision attachments. So hopefully lighter SAPI’s will soon follow. The newer flak jackets are still around 60-70 lbs + with full kit. The plate carriers (Thank you SF!!) are even lighter, and the 1st gen new flaks were heavier. Of course, that’s not including your weapon, helmet, and anything else you’re wanting to carry. Let me tell you, it sucks!! :2cents:

Dwalk x 2.

DEFINITELY NOT to be used like a trauma plate in body armor is it? 😯 🙄 😎

This post needs resurrection and has to recieve a good bump!
I hate my effin phone right now and wish that I could do this right now. But I have return for remanufacture when I receive my insurance/warranty replacement. Usually requires two or three swaps before they finally will honor your request for a new manufactured phone and not someone elses refurbed lemon of a suck shit phone.
Part of the difficulty of returning after it has been dynamically tested for impact and bullet/pellet resistance , is that the device no longer complies to ROHS mandate for Leadfree compliance!

I expect there are pellets those phones are even less resistant to! :biggrinn:

Ya think? 😉

Knife

Shitty group though…..

Zonk

I expect there are pellets those phones are even less resistant to! :biggrinn:

Guess they’re not bulletproof, ahem, pellet proof.

what a silly statement. Of course they are not made to be bulletproof. No company is going to live up to such a liability .
They simply design them to be merely bullet “resistant” . And of course this one was defective!

Guess they’re not bulletproof, ahem, pellet proof.

Looks like real carbon fiber… :biggrinn:
