Q:

This seems to work and if not,,,, it was a blast to do

I took some pointed 1″X2″ stakes about 2′ long and stuck them in the ground 10yds apart starting at 20yds…I only had enough room to go out to 60yds but with the information I gathered I think the other yardages can be figured out or estimated using this demo.

Scoll down to the “holdover” demo

I marked a circle on each stake and put the cross hairs right on the circle firing 3 shots at each to see what the trajectory deviation was at each stake..I also checked my parallax to see if it matched the yardages as I had also written the yardage on each stake. I wasn’t so much interested in windage as I was in elevation..Once I had all of the stakes marked with shots, I averaged the groups and measured the distance from the circle I had marked to the middle of the groupings on each stake. I started pluging the results into and changing the parameters on the demo until the results were simular to the actual shot measurements…..Once the actual trajectory and the demo trajectory were similar, I could change the target distances to estimate how much the pellet would drop at any distance…This will make more sense when you look at the demo if I have explained it right….And then again I could be completely wrong about the whole thing….Critisim and/or enlightenment welcome
