Thoughts on a Crosman Custom
Here’s the spec I’m looking at for target shooting and plinking out to 10-20yards.
* 10.1 Lothar Walther Match (.177)
* Williams Peep Sight
* Long Steel Breech and Bolt (in case I want to mount a scope)
* Black Muzzle Break and Front Sight
* Red Trigger Shoe
* Cocobolo Target (right) Grips
Any comments on the peep sight+front sight combo?
Is the custom shop seer as bad as the production 1377? Do I need to polish it to remove creep?

I have a diminishing 2240.
It has a 2240 tube, a Crosman barrel I got from Charles Mellon, along with his power adjuster/stock adapter, a Tippman m4 stock, a Anthony J Breech, a Blue Fork frame, a TKO ldc, and a Hipac HPA conversion.
It is deadly accurate, a pistol when I need one, a very light carbine most of the time and mouse fart quiet.
I get about 10 shots in the 675 /700 range, when things warm here next summer, I can go back to CO2 if I wish, but I think I would miss the power.
Next will be a custom tube and then my Condor 22 barrel will become a barrel for it when I get a 25 caliber Condor barrel.
Oh, I almost forgot, the Bluefork trigger is excellent, everything the 2240 trigger is not, although the safety needs adjustment when you get it.
Like I said, it is a diminshing 2240.

Yeah, the Izzy is high on my list also and keeping my 1377 for robust plinking with kids – keeping the Izzy for precision for me.
I think I’m leaning towards the Izzy.
Tough call. The S costs more, comes with the adjuster but has a limited valve. You’ll get more shots per cart but the highest power (fps) you get is probably below the as delivered fps of a CS 2300. Add the power adjuster and maybe a lighter/heavier spring to suit your taste and you’ll have more tuning option.
My S performed as well as or better than any other crosman co2 I’ve had but I never worried about the power limit. I was okay with compensating for the change in POI if I shot beyond 10m but I did LOVE the shot count.
If you are going to consider the S plus custom grips…. money wise for ‘informal precision’ to 20y…. I might try to talk you into a used Izzy, especially since you are interested in the trigger.

Midway has the peepsites on sale, the one that fist on the rail, I think it is the guide model. Go to their web site, it is the first thing you see.
So maybe just get a 2300S and some custom grips? My 1377 is pretty accurate but I’ve taken the sights and trigger as far as they’ll go. I want something for informal precision pistol.
Triggers are better than the 1377’s but only because of the better spring and the spring guide/adjuster. It can still be much improved.
I have a CS 2400 with the lw 10.1 barrel and find it to be very accurate but just flat out too light for target shooting. I scoped it and carry it when I go plinking in the woods with the kids. Off a bench – I’m impressed even out to 30yards, nearly as good as my Edge.
In pistol form it’s as close as your going to get to the 2300s for less $. Even then a power adjuster and a couple of valve internals and you’ll have a 2300S.

Its one of the things I like with the 1377 and 22xx 23xx series – you can quickly fix or customize the gun without much effort.
