Thoughts on the BSA super 10 that is on sale…
at AOA. I am basically a one rifle and one pistol owner right now. I have my AAA condor .25 from TT and I have my PPG the first and perhaps only .25 magnum pistol from Pacific Pellet guns.
I saw this great price and was thinking about getting it. If it were in .22 I probably would have already jumped. But I don’t think I am opposed to .177 so any and all thoughts on this rifle and this caliber will be appreciated.
Obviously my first question is where was this made? You hear rumors about BSA’s no longer being English, etc.
I sure miss my BSA scorpion. It was my most accurate rifle ever and it was not even regulated. I traded it for…well, that is a long story soon to be discussed in a separate topic. Thanks guys.

Early R10s were only really ruined by poor machining on the regulator. Bits of swarf were often found in the internals….. 😯 Well, that and the odd trigger falling off, and piss poor crowning, leaks, shrouds that came loose. But apart from that they were awesome 🙄 😆
The ‘MKII’ is an altogether different beast. Those that have them swear by them now, super accurate, reliable, blah, blah.
Can’t comment on the FX Joe, never played with one, or read any reliable reviews on them either. But it’s an FX, so……..
I would be all over that S10 personally. VERY highly rated here. Shot a friends S10 couple years back and was very impressed. Accuracy was great( though I seem to remember we only shot out to 40yrds) That was in .22 at sub 12fpe.

I like the looks of the R 10 but I too recall the problems…Pyramid has the R 10’s for under 1,000.00.
I will most likely hold off for now as I hardly have time to shoot the two PCP’s that I do have. Thanks for all the input guys! 😉

You’re thinking of the BSA R10… Beautiful gun that was plagued by problems in the start. ‘Supposedly’ they are sorted out now, but the stigma remains for many. I desperately wanted one when I first saw pics, but didnt get one based on early reviews. There is a used on on AofA site now, but I’m over it now.

I do in fact really like my Royale 400. I bought it used off of the Used AOA site. Buy even used it was very expensive.
It is a 22 and i chose it over the Royale 500 because it is primaily a bird in the top of Doug Fir tree shooter and I just don’t feel comfortable using the 25’s for that.
If it was an all around gun, then I would have gone for the Royale 500.
I do intend to shorten the Royale, you can do this by heating the shroud and loosening it and moving it down about another 1.5 inches. But it is still very handy the way it is. It seems to run out of accuracy, as far as I am concerned at about 90 yards, but until it does, it is truely a death ray.
I am just about to take my fancy Leupold off and put my Bushnell Tactical on it, I want the Leupold/Holland combo for my 25 LBT because of its superb long range accuracy.
Is the rifle your looking at the BSA 10 they, AOA, have listed for $795.00?
Only thing about it that would bother me would be the 177 caliber, but it could prove to be a good caliber for eye shots on hummingbirds if you have your wife around with a backup rifle. 😛

Greetings Grit! Call AOA and ask what the production date is. I got a .22 Scorpion and .25 LoneStar from AOA and I believe that they were older models. They both are very accurate. The Scoprion is VERY LOUD even though it is shrouded. It’s shot count is not good, but it is a good and accurate gun. The LoneStar is even LOUDER, but again it’s very accurate and powerful. The shot count is like 7 shots, but it is a hammer.

I recall reading some problems regarding BSA, perhaps the model your talking about, that were purchased form Midway that had problems, and the thing about Gamo quality came up then.

Far as the BSA/Gamo relationship, Gamo has owned BSA for a long, long time… but they let them do their thing. It was only since Gamo started getting involved that the quality of some of the BSA’s went to down.

That is what worries me on the special price on the BSA. Is this special price because the “quality went down”…I don’t want a half BSA half Gamo. I think Pab said, a while back in a different post (correct me if I’m wrong) that BSA’s plant in England was still up and running??? But is it full of Englishmen or foreign wankers???
The S10 is indeed a good gun. I’ve heard of some issues with the T12 Whisper, but those were with the first iteration of the gun and I havent heard of such issues since… but it is true that the FX guns are prone to leaks, I havent seen that with the FX bottle guns as much as with the tube guns.

That whole BSA/Gamo thing has always been a concern. Rumors are rumors but when it comes to such a fine piece of equipment…you have to be certain.
Wasn’t BSA bought by GAMO or their parent corporation? BSA is taking a hit with cost cuts and such, at least that is the rumors…

I might not be able to squeeze the funds…but it seems to be a real good deal. Then I discovered the FX’s on sale as well. Always wanted a Royal, or Rapid, or Air Ranger…but those three are made of the expensive material called Unobtanium… 🙂

Yeah, the link just takes you to the site. You have to go to BSA rifles…They also have a good deal on some of the FX rifles (similar price). What do you think about this rifle -vs- the T12 Whisper (FX)???

The whole Gamo/BSA thing… Gamo don’t know how to make a PCP, and BSA has all the tools, jigs to make their rifles and have been doing a good job for many years.
Gamo might be producing stuff for the BSA break barrels but I think that they would be leaving the PCP’s alone.
Just machined a BSA .177 barrel for my talon, got to wait about a month to see how she shoots though 🙁
