Thrilled with FX T-12 Whipser Accuracy

Mods I made to my FX T-12 Whisper Mk2

Purchased new Whisper .22 from AOA with ST barrel but Pellets sprayed left then right of target every few shots…with a wider spread as distance to target increases. After reading the forums I actually tried every single suggestion…including

1.) Make sure pellets are dry (not lubed or oiled)…DONE…cleaned them with automotive brake cleaner (nice shine)…although others said lubed pellets shot just fine.

2.) Clean Barrel with cleaning Pellets…DONE.

3.) Try different Pellets…DONE
a.) JSB 16g
b.) JSB 18g
c.) JSB 14g – I used these to shoot my best groups…others seem to prefer the 16g

4.) Remove Barrel Clamp…DONE…did this..then seperated the 2 rings and put the one back over the air guage. Barrel clamp is OFF.

5.) Try different Scopes (and rule out Parallax)…did not help…I am using the Barska Euro Pro 30 4-16×60 scope…It does not have a parallax adjustment and is only parallax free beyond 100 yards…but it looked good in pictures.

6.) Hand feed pellets..did not help

7.) Take out the pre load off your magazine 12-shot clip…DONE..take out the center screw to take off the face plate. Now just pull out the wheel, when you do this you will notice that the spring under it is going to unwind. It is wound with 2 or 3 turns from factory so it can cycle the Semi auto’ but this is not needed with the Whisper or Royale. Put it back together but this time so it with only 1 turn of the spring.

8.) Checking the barrel tightness…DONE…I actually discovered that the transfer port (where air enters the barrel) was not properly aligned with the gun. Not sure how much that matters since there are O-rings…but just something discovered in checking the gun….put is back together with transfer ports fully alligned as best I could.

9.) Check Barrel Cap – mark with black marker on inside to check for clipping…DONE…was clipping for sure

10.) Shoot without Barrel Shroud End Cap…DONE..shot great…but loud…

11.) REAM OUT Barrel Shroud End Cap to FIX CLIPPING!!!…DONE!!!..Took a drill bit on a hand held drill and reamed out the hole through the end cap…in reaming out the barrel shroud end cap…I noticed that more material was removed from one side than the other….some of the paint on one side was not disturbed…indicating that the hole was not straight to begin with…worked better…not perfect…so I reamed is out one more time…now big enough that pellets do not clip…not louder that I can tell. Obviously, this would be better done on a lathe than with a hand held drill.
