To lube or not to lube … is the question.
Since i´m new to PCP´s i´m not sure whether the use of pellet lube is adviced or not. So – should i use it for pellets i use in my Eddie or if it´s just a waste of money. Thanks in advance !

i have used engine oil, wd40 etc…the thing to remember is
1 do not lube the pellets directly, 2-3 drops on a piece of lint free cloth, let it spread and then “swish” the pellets in the cloth until they are all shiny
2 clean tin
3 keep your pellets super clean, and ditto your gun, the pellets are now “wet” and dirt, pollen, grime will stick to them
4 clean your barrel, some of the oil will be in your barrel now, so the inside of your barrel is “wet” so do a pull through once in a while
all that said…i never saw the big difference in my guns except my career 707 mk2 .22 80 fpe rifle…this rifle liked lubed pellets, and would lead considerably less in the barrel, i would clean the barrel after 2-3 tins of pellets, just pulling a cloth through it with 2 drops of oil…followed by 3-10 dry cloths or until they came out dry…i never got to the point where cloth came out 100% clean
if you stick to 2-3 drops of oil in a cloth when wetting the pellets you wont get diesling (detonations in barrel due to oil combustion), should you hose down the tin of pellet with direct spray, some pellets will get wet enough to have droplets inside the skirt, and you are likely to dieseling, you will see weird groups, with super powerful shots and weak ones all depending on how much oil is present…so dont do that
i have shot airguns for 20+ years now and i dont oil my pellets anymore…i just dont see a need for it, i dont clean the barrels of my rifles either, unless accuracy has gone to hell…but i rather check scope, mounts etc before cleaning if accuracy is off
I would agree, some barrels like lubing, some others not. My HW100 and AA S510 they don’t like it for sure. I think is better to weight them, than lube.
Some barrels like lube. Some don’t. W/L Barrels generally do, Smooth twist don’t. You willl have to try different lubes for yourself.
some great ones are Krytec, FP-10 by shooters choice, one shot by slick 50. These should get you started. 😉

Thanks! Waited for an answer until i realized the time difference and went for it .. 😉 I already lubed somewhat 100 pellets so i´ll see what -if any – difference it makes. I use Napier Power Pellet-lube. Someone,somewhere told me that PCP guns benefit of the use more than the springers since they use dry air as a propellant. Old wifes tales maybe ??? 😯
The only PCP that I’ve had any luck with lubed pellets was my AZ Rapid and he informed me to only use lubed pellets and to only use Lube 1 by slick 50. When I tried lubed pellegs in my other PCP’s the accuracy either stayed the same or got worst.
Unless you wash your pellets, I would not bother. Lubing will help reduce oxidation of the lead. As for performance, from what I have heard and read it does not seem to make any difference unless you use a light petroleum based lube and then you have detonation.
