Took the red dot sight from my AR…..
and decided to mount it on one of my Talons
Basiclly total stock SS, nice thing I like, sucker is very light 😀 😀 😀
I like it, so far is doing fairly well @ 20yd.
I will do some shooting offhand and snap a pic of the results.
Pure joy off-hand shooting, perfect crow buster.

I’ve tried a red laser and has the same problem as you mentioned. Excellent for use in subdued light, but washes out pretty quick in sunlight.
I also had an LED red dot, 50mm lens, but the same problem there. The dot washed out in bright light.
I think the short “Red Dot” scopes, 1X, that are 2″ to 3″ long, with a 20mm to 50mm objective lens, have a tendency to let in too much outside light. I’ve noted the more expensive dot scopes have a longer, 6″ or so, tube on them and I believe the dot is better shaded from outside light, and retains its definition much better in broad daylight.
Anyway, that’s the kind I’m going to try this time. I’ll report my results.

Hoot, a red dot is different than a laser in the fact that a red dot scope does not emit a “dot” it is simply a dot (red or green) that you see through the reticle on your target as opposed to crosshairs or mil dots.
I think what your asking for is a laser. A laser puts a visible “dot” on the target. I have a CenterPoint Quick-Acquisition Laser Sight ($20) mounted on the top rail of my Condor that I use for targets less than 60 yards. (60 yards is my “zero” range with my scope) I use the laser for close targets so I don’t have to figure out what the hold-under is on my scope. I use the scope only to sight the laser’s red dot on my target.
The laser’s red dot is somewhat hard to see in bright sun light, but overcast, early morning, late evening it’s works very well for me.
Specs:
.40″ dot size @ 100 yds
50 yds visibility/indoor light
200 yds visibility/outdoor night

I want to mount a red dot on my P-rod bullpup.
My fear is the last red dot I owned, I couldn’t see the dot in broad daylight. It’s a great concept, but I am afraid to just grab one off the internet.
Can anyone recommend one that they KNOW works in broad daylight? I don’t want to spend $300 for one, because this is strictly for cottonmouths in the lake and critters in my back yard…raccoons, possums, etc.

Oh never mind….I found them on the web for $139.00, but I’ve seen indications that you can get them for $99.00. It’s a 081, is that the same as Saw’s?
Saw….does it work in bright light? If so, I think I’ll pick one up.

You get the idea from my pics the other day? Every time I put on the red dot sight I get out the plastic golf balls.
Will be the most fun youve had with an airgun when you play yard golf with it. 🙂

That’s cool Saw, how far out do you think the set up is good for, probably cover up a sparrow at 25 yards wouldn’t it.

I like red dots. I have an ultradot on my ruger mk 3 and it’s a pleasure to shoot.
10 shot group @ 46′, that would be 15.33 yards whoo hooo
City boy, I gotta set up a longer range, neighbors back yard is all weeds.
I should be able to get 50 yards.l
I am pleased so far, stock talon, amazing how much less weight is saved without a scope, I will say I propped my old ass up on a fence post
This little red dot is perfect for the Talon, only reason I mounted it was I did not have high rings for one of my other scopes, I think this is my newest favorite set up, the red dot is pretty pin point, I like it

The red dot that I have came with my AR
is a sig saur and has the # STS-081
I would have to say in broad daylight, very visable
the dot is pretty small I like the compactness and light weight
Mind you this red dot came with my AR
Prob, other sights out there that are exactly the same
