Q:

Top hat and o ring

Hi I saw a U tube video on a Talon. The guy had put a o ring washer on the top hat stem under the top hat and claimed it regulates the Talon??#
Would this reduce power and any one heard of it before?? Guess it might make it quieter??

Thanks for the reply I am going to give it a go

Hello,

from what I understand, it keeps the tophat/stem movement more consistent so when the air pressure start decreasing, you are not actually wasting additional air.
In fact, as the pressure decreases, for the same hammer weight you would be pushing the stem just slighly deeper.

You are trying to balance the physic equation:
Apply same force (hammer mass * hammer acceleration) = try get same amount of air by working against the tank pressure holding the valve closed.

The oring, being elastic, absorbs some hammer energy when the pressure is lower keeping the shots more consistent.

At least this is what I got out of it 🙂

Enjoy 🙂
Cheers
Chris

Read the stickies above then ask your questions. I learned a lot doing that and lurking before buying the Condor SS.
