Q:

Top hat polish

What is the pourpose of polishing the top hat? I don’t see where anything slides or moves on it. If you polish much off the stem
Where it fits in the valve, it would become loose! Please enlighten me on why this thing needs to be shiny.

Ok, thanks guys. I kinda figured that would be the amsewrs. Will admit it does look cool but I doubt the air is in the top hat
Long enough for the smoothness to make much difference.

the theory works, port and polishing been happening for years…. just ask a wrench head why they port and polish the intake and exhaust runners on a hypo engine :biggrinn:

Good point!

it looks cooler!!! who wudn’t want that?? unless the tophat stem damaged, i dont think it helps much in terms of performance. no shot counts increase nor stability and fps difference. done to all 5, all chronied. id do it again anytime. good looking gun shoots better

I believe polishing your tophat will a) make a smoother action when the hammer strikes it and it move backwards and b) create less air resistance by being smoother.
