Q:

tophat?????

whats all the hoooraaah about adjusting your tophat??? and how is it done?….i have an ss with 18 inch .177 and .22 cal barrels….what am i missing? im pretty stoked on just the factory setting (whatever that is)…ive noticed no loosening…and i generally shoot .177 with my power wheel at 6…regardless of pellet im shooting…and p/w set at 12 for all my .22…seems fine to me so far….any reason to adjust? change? or bother with..i refill after 30-40 shots in .177…and after 15 in .22.
i use my ss pretty much only for hunting anyway, and i dont mind if i am wasting a little air, as long as im getting the most power shot for shot. im going to get a chrony soon to fine tune my power wheel and experiment a little more. so whats all the hubbub bub?

thanx for the info everyone!

WoW! joe, if your refilling after 15 shots with .22 then you really need to tune your gun and ofcoarse adjust your top hat…
Us guys here are getting atleast 50 consistent shots with 1000-950 fps shots…with the .22….and with the .177, peeps can get atleast 70+ consistent shots…

Didn’t you post something on the led lights Synopsys?

Maybe with my initial .25 cal testing with the Walt in Hawaii barrel…

What have you heard about it? I have only used mine once and so far it was flawless. Got the printer too (finally) but have not used it yet. The only thing about the lights is you have to buy a battery to make it portable, but that should be pretty easy…

Joe there is a section in quick ref on why you should adjust your top hat and you really need a chrony or you are wasting you time this is the same thing all the older members told me and I ordered one the same day just makes things so much easier! kind of like trying to fly a kite with no string 😥 Anyway do a search one of the main things for adjusting your top hat is consistent shots and not wasting air same as setting your power wheel that is part of it also.

Hey Packrat i have turned my condor down to 400 to 450fps. 🙂

For 1000 shots… 😆

Grab some feeler gauges from an auto parts store if you don’t have any… I like the ones where you can take them apart and stack the leaves separately… I keep track of all my adjustments in a note book. Oh and I highly suggest the LED lighting system for the Chrony, top notch and no errors, ever.

That’s what I’m talking about!! I’d like some of ALL that 😆 😆 😆

Not wasting air. Getting the most shots between fills. Getting maximum accuracy. Getting less variation between shots. Getting a flatter/broader curve.
