tophat problem
Bought brand new condor directly from Airforce in October 2011. From day 1 the tophat slowly moves clockwise while shooting. Airforce’s solution was to send me replacement tanks which did the same, no matter with factory setting or my own (.095) with blue locktite. When I continue to tell them there is a problem, they don’t want to deal with me. I finally asked for a return shipping label to send back the gun & latest tank to inspect, and now they are charging me! Customer Service’s solution even thought it might be best if they just got rid of my concerns by offering my money back! They are actually treating me like I don’t have a problem… I think the problem with the tophat movement has something to do with the bolt or an alignment issue. I sent the thing back and am awaiting their “solution”. Please help! Bob

I have the condor with the hi-flow valve. The stem is not spinning, but the tophat is. I suggested a new gun/tank replacement that does not do this, but I don’t think I was well received; still awaiting their reply. Also, when I switched to the 12″ inch bbl for backyard use, with pwr wheel set at 0, I was getting around 830 fps, just right with minimal noise. Also, my forearm handle fell off! To change the barrel from 24″ to 12″ for the first and only time, I had to really “break loose” the 1″ screw. Later, when the forearm fell off, I discovered the receiver was stripped from all the pressure the factory put it in with! No wonder it eventually fully stripped. I taped the forearm back on when I shipped it back. Customer service even suggested they might tap out for the next screw size. I expressed that I did not find that acceptable. They should have received the gun/tank by now; I think it only fair I get a brand new, fully tested condor. What does anyone out there think? I paid alot of money for something from the get-go doesn’t match. 🙁
does the stem turn with the tophat? if so, dont worry unless its causing consistency or accuracy issues. if the tophat is turning independent of the stem, thats a problem. there are 2 grub screws that hold the tophat rotationally secure. i forget-is it a condor or a standard valved talon/ss?
if its a hi flo valve, be gentle with the screws, and perhaps insert the shank end of a drill before tightening, as the walls are ungodly thin and prone to denting.
tony of talontunes literally just started making 1 piece stem/tophat assemblies, that could be another way to go. 😉
