Q:

trigger tuning, matador

Hi all,

I wanted to experiment a little with my trigger as I felt a little stiff.
It does feel better now but there is still one thing that puzzles me;

* First stage; squeezing slowly –> I can feel a little resistance as the first screw is lifting the plate above it –> wall
*Second stage; a mild squeeze and fire

Now, if I decide NOT to go through with the shot, the trigger is hanging kind of loose… the reason for this is the first stage screw lifted the plate and now the plate stays up, waiting for the second screw. To make the plate fall down to its original position I must pull the bolt back again and the last 2mm of pull will release the plate.

Is this normal? It certainly doesnt feel normal

I find when I get into things that have numerous parts a couple pics from different angles on iPhone help with reassembly. Especially of it isn’t going back together that day. The trigger pin, washers and rod spring are simple.

I just tapped mine out with a punch and right back in. Little bit of effort getting washers in line as the parts and space are small. Pretty easy overall and worth it

“Pretty easy overall and worth it” sounds good… I sometimes take things apart and fail at putting it back together or I manage to put it together but screw something up 🙂

I’ll give it a try, Thanks Demp

Yes. You’ve moved the sear to its break point and the free hanging trigger is result of no tension on rod.
If you take some 2k grit paper and polish tip of screw and side of plate that screw glides against it will be much smoother.
My plate had noticeable fine tool marks. I polished it to mirror finish then light coat of moly.

Thanks Demp, crystal clear explanation… but the plate that the screws touch can only be taken out by pushing out the pin(s), right?
I will start with polishing the screws as it actually happens from time to time that the trigger feels stuck and I have to “finger” it a little to get the first stage going.

We’ll see about the plate, I’ve never pushed out pins and dont know how it works… do I reuse my old pins after punching them or do I put in new ones?
