Q:

Triggers and The New Components

Just thought I would share a few PIC’s of in the beginning with all the blunders I had with my trigger in the Condor for Hell!!! 😆 😆
Now my Condor started out as a real to honest mistake that escaped from the manufacture and I ended up getting LOL… From one end to the other has been nothing but make my own version of this that and the other, yes all chewed and hacked out as best I could with what I have/had at the time…

Just don’t be so quick to laugh, as they all do work… Lets have a look at these first. The very first version of some of the parts I was blacksmithing out… I do have a few different parts and pieces from when I made these, as mentioned this was in the beginning and my first attempt.

These three parts are from stainless and I flame colored them and then cooled them down in a bath of argon. I love messing with the stainless, the only thing I like better is tigging on the stainless LOL… The sear in this PIC you can see how I had rounded off the angled edge that the hammer rests against while cocked, well that is not one of the problems I thought I had in the beginning, all you need there is a steeper angle and a longer one, with the surface there to remain polished nice and very flat edged.

Actual trigger in the beginning:

Lots of hammer peening and working on this piece before it ended up as it did:

Here its been case colored by flame and bathed in argon till cooled:

This next one is one that makes me sick to think I actually had this in my gun and using it, you look close at the OEM sear and you can see the hair line cracks around it… Coarse the one I chewed out next to it… Edit: I just posted this and saw you can barely see the hairline cracks right above the slot for the pin on the OEM part. The PIC’s are reduced to much to post here to really see it in a bigger PIC, sorry, they are there if you look close…

Next is a PIC of the hammer and anvil I use so much to make things in this world much better than when they are new LOL… Also the polished area on the 24″ .22 barrel I have… Yes the barrel does have a hammered choke now also, the muzzle end is polished up nicely afterwards and with the barrel is very special and a great shooter in the .22 caliber when you need 24″ of barrel LOL…

Next is one after I built a mock up of the military peep sights for the Condor. This is the Condor and its shorter, but bigger brother:

Does anyone no where this goes??? Its not an OEM replacement I made either. Its a new part all together:

Here is where it goes and it helps stiffen up the end of the frame where I needed all the help I could get for the better grip I wanted:

This was all started by the trigger failure also. That and the fact these rifles are like drugs and addictive as anything I know of LOL… Here is another view when it was nice and warm and summer time around here:

Things still progressing:

Got to love the military peep sights LOL… The only disadvantage I ever have to the peep sights like this, its at night and trying to find the target in the dark… Thats when the good glass is at its best advantage, I can actually shoot the heck out of the peeps for an old guy that doesn’t see as good any more LOL…

Now of coarse I skipped over lots of other stuff I made along the way, but the trigger got all this addiction started.

The grip is what they call a foxbat grip, its for a AR15… I just made my own aluminum plate bedded into the top of the grip and anchored it with the screw in the back of the frame from the cover plate I made and the long bolt that comes in from the bottom of the grip. I had to make the long bolt in the bottom as well. You just take a 1/4″ allenhead and turn down enough of the threaded end to re-thread it to the threads we have in the cross threaded boss we have in the frame…

Its a good feeling grip to me. I relocated the placement of the trigger closer to the grip also. Didn’t like how far out in the middle of the trigger guard area they had the OEM trigger…

The breech slide is an aluminum slide I chewed out myself. Its nothing like I want to make, but I am very limited as to what I can do without a lathe… I have stock here to make some that I think would end up bada$$, just ain’t got the lathe just yet, or find someone here local to make what I want.

I asked Tony about doing some of this stuff for me and he is just to busy to mess with me and my one off stuff LOL… Don’t blame him either really. I get someone or something to make these myself one of these days…

The stuff I have done on this Condor by hand takes forever, hammer and anvil, then file and emery cloth till I get the shape of something I want LOL… Not anywhere close to being done with a machine, but it is what it is 😆 😆 😆 They all work OK, just a little rough, chewed out 😛

Lots of nice work there Rowdy. No laughing here!

Where did you get your grip and breech?
That is the kind of mod I’m looking for.

Thx
