My grandparents, from my father’s side came to America from Norway in 1902. They only spoke Norsk at the dinner table Sunday nights. They did it to pass on the language to their children. They integrated into society to fit in, not live in some ghetto and only deal with Norwegians or like people. I grew up with conservative values and still have those today. Has my way of thinking changed since I immigrated to Canada in 2005(Citizen in 2009), Yes it has! I believe a country should take care of its citizens EQUALLY! I know it bugs the shit out of me that the down and outters and drug addicted get the same medical treatment I do at the clinic, Doctor’s office or the hospital. I don’t pay for prescriptions, Chiro, Physio, or natural-path treatment because my Wife pays a health insurance premium so we get better care!!!
Why am I ranting? I am not a LIBERAL, nor a Republican(after what the Tea Party did to it), but a person with conservative values living in a Socialist country. Am I okay with that? Sure! Love Canada and would not move back to America unless things drastically change!

I worry about Trump + his idiots making decisions that need to be based on data and fact. A non-scientist running the EPA? Sure, lets get the gardener to fly a plane. When Reagan repealed the clean air act, everyone in this region was blasted with acid rain. All our crops were burned up overnight. When I measured the pH (I am a scientist), my meter showed pH2.7. I didn’t believe it and phoned a neighbor working at the UVA acid rain project. They have robotic samplers. He confirmed my reading. For those of you unfamiliar with pH: it’s a scale of 1-14, with one being super strong acid and 14 being caustic-alkaline. Normal rain runs about pH6.
Why states shouldn’t make the rules… our acid rain came from Ohio. They got the money, we got the shaft in Virginia.
All of the spruce trees are dead at high elevations here. Most of the trout were killed because the rain etched Aluminum out of the rocks, killing the fish. When Bush Sr. reinstated the Clean Air Act, he got my respect and doubtless saved a lot of lives. Your lungs are filtering the air folks. You can bullshit about EPA vs. the economy, but if the planet gets polluted, we’ll be spending all our money at the hospital.
