Q:

Trust the condor gauge or the hill pump gauge?

Just filled my tank using my hill MK3 hand pump and stopped when the pump said 2800 because on my condor it is halfway through the red over 3000. Should I trust the gauge on my tank or on my pump? Do I need a new gauge for my tank?
Thanks

The gauges that come on the Condor are junk. Both of mine started to leak and give erratic readings within a year of ownership, left fully charged most of the time. I bought two of Talon Tunes gauges are replacements. Now my pump and the gun read exactly the same and there is no leakage.

I used regular teflon tape on one and a specialized high pressure thread sealant (aka dope) on the other.

Gauge on pump but you can always get a new gauge to be sure.

I went with trusting my pump and the needle went past red for 3000 lbs so I shot it down and released the rest of the air and replaced the gauge with a paintball one rated to 5000 psi now I can keep track of my optimal pressure range.
Just for hill pump info the green o-rings for the mk4 should fit the mk3 Ill edit once i get the set I ordered.
“Many thanks for your email.

The MK4 piston will work on the MK3 pump.

You can however purchase direct from our website – http://www.airriflepump.com

Mines the same 2800 on pump 3k on gun. I use the Hill pump gauge personally. I also have the CF tank and can fill to higher then 3k though.

Being as we’re all “noobs” so far in this thread, I’ll just say that I’m finding there’s a fair amount of experimentation that goes along with these adjustable pcp rifles.
When I first got my Condor I was using a G6 hand pump and recall that the pump gauge and gun read a little differently, not as much as your Hill pump though. I’ve recently gone to a scba tank and from my shooting experiences and the notes taken, I don’t fill the gun to max anymore as I’ve found there’s a psi sweet spot that velocities / shot strings / accuracy seem to do better at. Finding consistency can get frustrating if you move the pw settings and fill pressures,, but here again, it’s a learning process. 2800 is my fill with pw set at 5-2. I’m also trying to shoot my gun keeping it as close to factory parts as possible. I’ve done no adjustment to the factory tophat, but experimented with shims under it.
With 18gr JSB ammo – .060 nylon washer – 962fps, .064 #5 o-ring – 1000fps, .062 flat rubber washer – 980fps. With the rubber being more forgiving, gives slightly higher velocity and less action/hammer noise. :smilen:
I prefer to zero at 35yds and experiment with shorter or longer shots noting if it’s a hash or a full dot hold under for closer or hold over for longer.
I’m sure others with much more experience will offer their findings. :tag:

Funny I am having the same problem. Any info in this would be great. I also noticed that I was missing close range targets, I have my Condor SS sighted in at 25 yards and it’s right on the money but at close range it shoots a Mil Dot low. Is this normal? At 60 yards it shoots the same Mil Dot low as I expected it would. Any help with this would be appreciated
