Q:

TTT with Subssonic shroud

I know, right?

Resized cell phone pics obviously do not serve justice. My danged kids ran off with my camera again.

Hoot- thanks for the referral to Subssonic. Not only did he ask a bunch of questions and make a recommendation but got this thing built in less than a week in spite of the holiday. He called me yesterday to get my address and in less than 24 hours it was in my mailbox. dang!

Tested it right away. In spite of only being 4″ it works better than I expected, and that’s saying a lot considering my longer version is a Tony. It’s a ‘fwap’ rather than a ‘thwip’ but much MUCH better than the open end.

I am absolutely ecstatic and can’t wait to find a pest in my yard!

his name Greg and his email subssonic@yahoo.com

I am trying to get this very setup for my new talon ss .25. I have tried contacting him and am waiting for a reply. I may just get one for my .22 while I am at it.
Love this talon ss gun so much that I now have two of them.

Subssonic..?, how can I contact them..?
That’s a really nice short suppresor..!

Subssonic is his user name here, just message him.

What barrel length are are you using? If that’s an 18″ with that short of a shroud I want one too.

How long is the TT shroud? Looks like 12″

sorry bub… totally missed this earlier. Approx. 14.5″ not counting the flange part that fits inside the frame. 😯

AG1- PW = 8/9.5 (pin/wheel), Pellet =Crosman Premier, 14.3 grain
also just checked my fill and the guage read 2000 so I put another 700 in.

Love your rig, btw. I think we have the same folding foregrip and scope. I swapped for smaller optics to suit my close range needs and I think I may go even smaller with a reflex sight. I’ve got a flash light to mount for when I have to climb under the house to evict raccoons that find their way down there (usually right about this time of year too). The bayonet could come in handy as well for when there’s more than one, although I always take my semi auto pistol down there with me. And you have the sideways breech bolt! That’s my next mod for sure!

ah ha.. That makes sense. The reason Tony made the “full length” shroud was that it needed to handle probably up to around 120 FPE (that is like a 7 ring 70 grain slug going out at 800 fps, with a lot of pressure behind it).

If you are shooting 26 gr pellets at low powerwheel settings then yeah a shorter shroud can be used, BUT don’t sell the Tony Shroud, as you may want to “pump it up” one day.

Now I would be real interested if you were to tell us what your Powerwheel setting is with what weight pellets that you are getting only a mild noise change dropping down to that shorter shroud.

Here’s mine, which also has a long shroud http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20590&highlight=finely+dressed

AG1- I wish I could give you more numeric results as I know from my 2 years of lurking here that decibels, fps, fpe, sine and cosine, gravitational pull during sun spot flare ups, etc. are all critically examined with extraordinary accuracy here. However- I’m just a killer not a Ballistician yet.

I point, squeeze (gently) and then clean up the mess before my kids catch me at my work. I’ve ‘painted houses’ for neighbors and friends with the long setup on my Talon and it has been deadly quiet in the doings. I’ve thought about picking up a chrony as I don’t feel like a legit member here not being able to speak ‘the geek’ with educated authority. Don’t have one though. I may be able to find an app for my iPhone that does decibels. I’ll look into that.

This rifle, being a TTT has dropped everything I have pointed it at. It needs to be sighted again with this new config (short barrel, small scope) but the power plant is still the same. The Tony tune it has was a full job as I recall (I’m the second owner). May even be time to send it back to Tony for a touch up and optimization. I love the short set up though.

I’m curious about how much air noise you are suppressing.
What is the maximum FPE you are pushing with which pellets ?

Subssonic does a great job, I have owned three of his shrouds, If I remember correctly I even recommended him to Old Hoot 😆

This is true…Hairy-two-nuts did indeed route me to “The Kid”….

My Subssonic product is long because I asked for maximum effect, due to my hybred, spineless, bastard, mouth-breating, neighbors. I also like the large diamter which approximates the diameter of the AF frame. TT shrouds have that feature too.

Kindest regrds,

C rex, I’ve seen a lot of AF guns on this forum and many don’t appeal to my eye. Your re-done Talon looks RIGHT. Very nicely done. :4:
