Q:

Tuning talondor ss 25

I’m in the process of tuning my talon ss with condor high flow valve and ttqc top hat . .025 shim under the top hat . I have a weight behind the stock hammer. Power wheel 10 and Allen screw at 5 and 3000 psi fill
1. Err
2.867
3.872
4.864
5.865
6.857
7.857
8.850
9.850
10.845
I can tell by the sound I’m wasting quite a bit of air and would like to stay around the 850 fps mark . So do I keep playing with the power wheel or make a new shim like around .035 size . Any help would be great thanks

I made my Talon Bounty Hunter into a Talondor and had some tuning issues as well. I finally got it figured out though. Experiment with different shim thicknesses over a chronograph. I ended up with a .30 nylon washer and a 1/16 poly oring under my TH. I have my TH adjusted to like .9 from the bottom of the TH to the end of the stem and am using the AF TH. My PW is at 6/1 in the middle and is getting 848 avg fps with an 18″ barrel. I get 25 shots at 2.25% with the MKII pellets. Accuracy is excellent out to 70 yards, but I haven’t shot it out further yet. My buddy and I ended the summer with 15 groundhogs killed with all heads hots from 20 to 45 yards. Keep trying different shim thicknesses and you will find what it likes. Good luck !

I really don’t expect it to be to efficient . I was pretty amazed that the hi flow valve and the 12 in barrel with the stock top hat . Pushes the 33.95 faster than my mrod 25 with a modded valve larger transfer port and 17 lb spring was pushing them . Granted my mrod valve isn’t crazy modded . I got the new ss valve from Travis for that . If I get 800 plus out of the talon and 10 to 15 shots with a small es I’ll be happy . I’ll play with the talon for a bit and may swap it to a 257 and a Nobel valve later down the road . So many options with it and the mrod makes it all the more fun thanks

Keep turning PW down until there is no change in velocity.
You can experiment with shim thickness to limit valve travel.
IMO 12″ barrel and high flow tanks are not efficient….good luck
