Tuning your gun

Hi.
I am quite new to the high powered air gun.
I have the .25 standard matador. It’s shooting about 930-940 ft per second.
What sort of max spread should I be looking at on the chronograph?

Also what lubrication do you use on the bolt? Do you take the breech off to add lube or can you add to an open bolt?

I would say +-3 m/s so 6 m/s of maximum spread from 220 to 130 bars.

2-4 fps from shot to shot and 9-12 fps max spread over entire string is normal.

I’ve been using moly paste on the bolt and action. Honda M77 (Molykote 77), MSDS says 50-75% moly. Good stuff. I’ve tried running the bolt a few different ways – 5w20 oil (fcuk no), light semifluid grease (still sticky), moly-lithium grease (not bad) and the paste definitely feels the best to me. You’ll want to open ‘er up, clean out the old shit and relube. I give moving parts a light coating, cycle the bolt a bunch, and wipe off excess. Also get the top section of the hammer that contacts the cocking lug.
