U-shape bolt for L-shaped bolt on Edgun
Would the downside of bolt action bullpups– the cocking
motion too far back; awkwardness; loss of sight picture
when disengaging from the cheek weld to cock– be helped
by a U-shaped bolt that has the handle and knob repositioned
forward at the end of a rod that is parallel to the bolt? an
added or integrated rod that would start from the present
position of the knob, and extend, say, 4-5-6 inches forward
so that the handle is more visible and in a more comfortable
position reaching and cocking?
It would require a cocking motion with minimal lateral
tension on the handle when cocking, since any lateral tension
(any force inward or outward from the breach axis) on the
proposed extension rod would transfer to the bolt itself
and put pressure on the breach if the cocking motion isn’t
as straight back and then forward as possible.
Other considerations:
— added weight
— change in the looks of the gun
— maybe, interference of handling of the gun
… Just an idea. ❓
