Ugh man!!!! Crack in my Edgun Matador stock
Well I just happen to look at the back of my stock and see a pretty big crack
Now I really don’t know what to do.

Coda they quoted you $1100 for a wood stock
And I was thinking of painting my stock just this week but wanted to make sure I could get another matador stock before I painted mine
🙂 I talked to these guys before on a varmint powder burner stock – some real nice stuff. I would hate to spend another $1100, though, for a stock on a new $2k gun. What did it run you?

i supplied them w/a maple blank when they did a rifle stock for me and they did a fantastic job on it and turn around time was quick…like a month.
paint your cracked stock and then have your premium wood for the display case. worth a shot.

Yes. You may need to thin it by warming a small amount but not more than 110 F. There is lots of help on Google and Youtube.

or even lack of moisture can cause it to crack which was the case on my mauser stock.
thats the one downside to wood is it’s organic and needs that perfect moisture balance to be maintained or problems arise.
I doubt it happened during trasit being that I pick it up straight from tony himself…I never dropped my gun or mistreated it in any way…I’m just bummed right now…but ill try your resolution…I’m not anal and can deal with a crack if I can repair it…but it would’ve nice to be able to order another stock as a replacement
I have repaired half a dozen firearm stocks with cracks. I always used Brownell’s Acraglas. The original, not the gel. Just open the crack slightly, apply and let the glas flow in. Some folks use thin CA but it isn’t as durable IMO.
On tight actions those hairline cracks are pretty common. If it’s real tight some slight inletting relief may be necessary to prevent it from recurring. Sometimes the stocks do that if they had some moisture.
drat! thought the cracked stock issue was dead. do you know if it happened while in transit to you?
it can be repaired. i did this on an old win67 rifle and mauser stock riddled with cracks: tape off areas around the crack on both sides and weep in some ultra thin CA(crazy glue, zap, etc) with fine tip applicator and let dry. if concerned about looks, you can go over the repaired dried glue area with very fine steel wool to blend the grain/glue & crack.
