Q:

UPDATE: 1010fps SamYang909S!

I just got this e-mail from a friend that has been doing 909S tunes for a few folks. Now THAT is some SERIOUS POWER!

Chris,
I tuned a guys 909s and got 323 fpe with a 3K fill. I think it will shoot harder if overfilled. It shoots roundballs 955 fps and 205 gr SWC slugs 843 fps!

Anyone interested in a 909S tune, e-mail me (no I’m not getting a cut LOL!).

UPDATE: Got this info e-mail today! UPDATE

“The 909s I tuned for a gentleman shot 971 fps with a round ball with a light overfill. Well he put 3200 psi in it and it chronied 1010 fps and 980 fps on the second shot.”

Pyramidair advertises the 909S at 21.60 inches; 2tube 21.65 inches

Makes me wonder if my hypothesis has merit; that the 909S tends to take a larger diameter slug than the 2tube 909.

Are the 2tube909, and 909s barrels made on totally different equipment?

Rob3dr, I like my 2tube 909 for shot count AND power. I get around 260fpe with a 155grain SWC, and at least 5 “good” shots with it. Need to do some more chrony testing with these 155’s.

However the only one I know that can do that with a 2tube 909 is Leroy, and it’s like pulling teeth to get him to find time to do a tune on one. He is a super-bsy guy, and pretty much looses money spending any shop time on airgun stuff.

Good numbers. That is definitely a dump gun like the DAQ’s.

Hey, how long is the barrel on a 909?

Shot velocity goes down a lot like a DAQ. Not enough air to work with to expect otherwise. He sent me this info today.

This is a 3000 psi fill with round balls: 955, 931, 876

This is a 3000 psi fill with casr 205 gr 843, 801, 750

Two hot shots and a third “follow up” shot that is stronger than the peak
shot from an unmodified 909!!!

Rob3dr, what do you find to be more accurate in your 909s , round balls or slugs ? What fps are you getting with balls and in what grain ?
I’m planning on purchasing the 909s in the near future. After doing alot of research it seems the .45 cal is supposed to be the wiser choice over the 9mm. Even thou the 9mm is a quality gun .

Did he say what the tune did to shot count? I’m at stock levels in my 909s (around 180fpe with round balls) but can squeeze out 5 good shots before POI suffers at 50 yards. With minor compensating, I can eke out 8 shots at that range.

While I know I wont need that many for a hunting situation (or I’d hope not!) I do like my shot count and feel that 5 good shots off a single tube 909 is doing well.
