UPDATE!!: J.H. .32 PCP coming along nicely.
Well, the only thing that i don’t like that i did was the adjustable butt pad that i installed (i hate working with wood). It did not come out as pretty as i would have liked in my opinion (and probably yours if i showed you) but, it is presentable. Anyway, i have so far installed a MORGAN ADJUSTABLE BUTT PAD, a BIPOD (swivel stud), and added the first coat of sealer (thanx you ROB in NC for the recommendation). The wood is very nice looking as i expected. Later, when i am done, i will do a full post and put up some close ups of the work (arrrrrrghhhh!….he he he).

I typically do not. It’s not like walnut where the wood is a bit porous… More like beech or maple.
As I was saying to Tofaz, I normally do a couple coats of sealer with a maroon scotchbrite pad rubbing in between and then several layers of finish. The first coat, I’ll apply fairly liberally and then subsequent coats, I’ll apply just a tiny amount, wet sanded in with 600 grit sandpaper. The final couple coats, I’ll just wipe on very conservatively with a lint free cloth.
….. then again, I’m no expert and I’m sure there are multiple ways of doing it.
I do things a bit different with Walnut.
Do you raise the grain on laminated stocks before you apply finish?

i ordered both the sealer and the finisher as per your instructions. I will probably use 2-3 coats of SEALER then do the finisher.
What do you think ROB? How many coats of the sealer do you think. The can sais like 2 or so. Meaning 2-3 if even necessary.
