I am going to make a post, see if we can do a group buy on some Springs. 35.00 shipping stinks.

The valve issue must hold some weight of truth to it. Jeremy contacted me shortly after the issue was presented on social media. I was given a Us source contact info and instructed to send my unit out. The valve was replaced and the system was tested. I received the bottle and valve combo assembled and charged to 4000 psi. Problem addressed and solved. I have nothing but positive things to say about my dealings with Jeremy at African Air Ordnance. He has always responded quickly to my emails and has corrected any issues I had with his products. Additionally, he even sent me samples of his pellets to try out. :5:

Even though one hasn’t blown up the valves are not safe. A friend sent me one and it is way off in the safety factor. I basically had to remake the valve
to fix all the problems.

AAO is in the process of making new valve bodies to replace the old ones.

I think it was cooked up by someone. Might have been RL for all I know. I called RL and they said a customer called in and said his valve failed. Thats all I could get out of them. Well AAO contacted all of the people that have purchased the valve and no one has had a failure.

Glad to hear no gun actually blew up.
Glad no one got on here and spread the “rumors”. Hopefully no monetary damage was done to AAO as a result.

Yesterday it was posted on the AF Facebook group page that one failed and destroyed a gun. It’s a closed group so still waiting on more info. RL airguns told one of the members.

SO anymore info on this? I don’t facebook so can’t get into that group but I’ve searched high and low and can’t seem to find any kind of documenting info at all on this on the web.

Good, I just hope AAO has contacted everyone who has bought one of these valves and issues a recall.
No one should try to use the valves and should degas the guns and remove the valves.

Looks like the “upgrade kit” is now gone from the AAO website.

Yes what Marko says is true. This valve is not made right and is to thin. It is not safe.

I was sent a valve by a friend to modify and was the one that brought up the problems. Had people varify the numbers on the safety factor. Problems are that the valve is to thin where the bottle screws into the tank and the threads on the front part of the valve are out of spec.

I have gotten some information about the valves and it is possible there is a safety issue within the valve frame, valve thread to the tank is m18x1.5 and it smallest diameter is 15.78mm from root of the thread.
There is valve pocket drilling inside that reach m18 thread area and that is 14.78mm
Leaving only 0.57mm of wall thickness on the junction where the bottle thread to the valve, and there is an o-ring seal gland on the bottle so no support on the thread at that part.
Dropping the gun or falling over it are the worst case scenarios that I can think of and I wouldn’t trust 4500psi in the tank that is supported by 0.57mm thin valve.

I have not measured the valve but have been given the dimensions.
Safety is first priority when making any HPA related parts and a minimum safety design margin of 3.5 to 1 is the standard.
Within these parameters the dimensions given are not safe.
This is my opinion and I’m not an engineer so I could be wrong, but better safe than sorry.

So, now I will address the upgrade progress or lack there of. I installed the upgraded spring into my rifle and screwed the power adjustment too far inward. This resulted in me shearing the hammer screw heads clean off after about a half dozen test firings. :confusedn: I called Airforce and ordered replacement screws at $2.37 each. They are now replaced and the power adjustment wheel is indexed where it should have been on the install. The instructions were very clear on this issue however, my household became a chaotic mess the very moment I began the install. I now send the wife and kid out shopping and turn my phone off whenever I am working round the house to avoid needless mistakes. The bottle I received had damaged threads from shipping. Jeremy instructed me to return the bottle and email the tracking number. Once I did, he sent me a replacement the very same day. I am now waiting for it and expect to receive it in the next 3-5 days. I will continue to update you all as everything here develops.

Hello, Yes I do hunt with the birds. We currently have three Red Tailed Hawks that are female and a Harris’s Hawk that’s a male. We go for jack rabbits and bunnies. Occasionally I get a bird to bind to a squirrel or a small rodent. It is a ton of fun and gratifying to capture a wild animal, tame it to some degree and then release it. At that moment you heart breaks but then you have the bird return and cooperatively hunt with you. The bird sees you as an effective hunting partner and as a reliable food source. I, along with many others see the birds as loving us, blah blah but it is what it is despite us assigning “human” emotions to the bird/ human relationship. Falconers refer to the exchange as a “husbandry”. Its truly an accurate term. If the birds are mistreated or find you to not provide, they will just fly off when you release them and never look back.

DanaDunn, do you hunt with your falcons? I hunt with Salukis and Greyhounds and know guys who hunted with falcons but have never witnessed first hand. Please keep posting on the results of these upgrades on Texan. I’m thinking I might grab the 308 and then start modifying 457 once 308 arrives. Have a friend who’s been doing some impressive stuff but he’s a machinist. Curious what can be done with drop in mods

Hello Gentlemen,
I have received the upgrade and was quite pleased with the quality of parts. My bottle was shipped and received in about ten days. It was pre screened at the shippers and the applicable customs forms were drafted. You will receive a steel bottle and two valve options. My bottle was fitted with a 5k burst disc from the supplier. Jeremy shot me a heads up and had the proper 7.5k burst disc sent to me without delay. I received it today in the mail. I ordered a muzzle break from him along with the slip on adapter that allows the break to be used without threading the barrel. I also ordered the hammer spring replacement set and have installed the appropriate spring for the vale option I selected. R.E.A.D the directions that are provided with the purchase of Jeremy’s kit thoroughly a few times to understand exactly what you must do to modify the internals of the rifle before you begin tearing down your rifle. If you feel you cannot perform the upgrade then find someone who can. It’s not difficult however there are a few areas where inexperience can render you with a non-functioning rifle. A few parts require some small massaging with a file here and there to achieve the proper clearance. Again, it is not difficult to perform. I’m outside of Sacramento,Ca. and the current weather front has pretty much pushed any testing I may have performed this weekend out to the weekend of the 25th IF i’m lucky. My wife and I are also licensed falconers so we gotta give our bird love before I can play with the Texan if we happen to get a break in the weather. I am also still waiting to her back from Haskel so that I can get the O rings for my gas booster. Again, I will provide as much help to anyone considering the conversion as I can and will provide pics as soon as I can.
