Q:

Used talon questions.

New dog in the yard ya’ll, I’ve been sniffin around for a little while and figured I mite as well register so I can ask a few questions.

For the last couple years I’ve had a urge for a good air rifle to hunt with and discovered the pre charge guns, WOW ! great idea, gotta have one but which one ?

Seems I read that Talon is ( at the time) the only American made PCP made, so I figured that I would go with the home team, then after gettin this here “puter” I found this site and read about the things you can do with them and it sealed the deal.

Question ya’ll,,, what would be a fair price for a used Talon ( prefer a condor) and wher’s a likely place to find one ???

Oh yea, anything I need to be on the look out for ? maybe something I need to ask a buyer to keep from windin up with a piece of junk.

Thanx in advance.

That was fast, thanx for the reply, the fact that the talon has so many options makes it even better, I love tinkering on a gun.

Mostly want a good rifle to hunt/play with, and from what I’ve found in the threads these guns can drive tacks, theyve taken every thing from rats to foxes, turkeys, and coyotes, serious interesting.

Things I have found in the short time here, these things are a lot like AR15’s in that they are modular. You can do so much with the basic frame.

I have the Condor frame, I have both the Condor tank and valve and the Talon tank and valve, plus the condor 24″ barrel and the ss 12″ barrel. I also have a condor on co2 coming this next week to round out everything and cut down on changing barrels all the time.

Follow me so far, this gives me the option for everything they make almost.

Add to that, the Airarcher conversion and I have a slim crossbow type conversion that out performs almost any crossbow in speed and accuracy, 2 to 3 inch groups at 60 yards and 400 FPS, at a fraction of the cost of a good crossbow.

You can scope it with just about anything you want.

Add on sound moderators are a gray area with the law, good to have, don’t flaunt them or do the things that will get you in trouble with the law and ruin it for a lot of people. THe ss is legal tho, it is integral with the frame.

Things to look for when you buy one. Find one that has a lot of options added ie., Adam Socals stuff, the ar grip adapter/lower unit, the butt plate conversion, then if you find all that on one and it has the lowered canted etac, you have solved almost all the ergnomic problems inherent with the system.

Like all toys, people get tired of them or guilt pops up when you want another so you just have to sell what you have to justify your new purchase. Look for that situation, keep your eyes open on this site in the for sale section and the yellow forums classified, something will come up and save you a ton of money.

And if you do not have a chronograph, it is a must to tune these things properly.

The learning curve on disassembly is short and requires a few allen wrenches, a valve collar wrench of some sort and a vice, this takes everything apart.

Before you ask questions on how to do something, check the reference section, just about everything is there on what your thinking of doing.

Also know that you just stepped into a deep hole, you will spend a fortune trying to figure how to get out of it, if you desire to get out.

These guys here will rip you a new asshole at first and have a good chuckle, in a couple of weeks you will be doing the same thing, they are great guys.

Off topic will get you riled, I have been trying to get Synopsys goat all day to no avail.
