utg 3/8 to 7/8 adaptor picatinny scope mounting on condor
Does anyone else have one of these. I bought three of them off of ebay. I mounted one on the bottom of the frame to attach my IR for my Night Vision. I put the other two on scope rail. They seem to be well made. The problem I had—although its not truly a problem, just one of those things that bothers me—is that when I mounted my scope to the rail I had to eat up alot of elevation to bring my point of aim in line with my point of impact. Now the scope I am using has plenty of moa available for this, but it just feels wrong using up so much. I understand this is not some “thousand yard” rifle (were talking a condor .22) and I won’t truly need elevation…but as I said, it felt wrong and from a fundamental viewpoint, I’m sure most would agree it is not good practice to eat up elevation on bore sighting. Now my question is this: Does anyone have any experience shimming their scopes on their condors??? I used two shims that worked well, but when I tightened everything down, these shims, no matter how many times I adjusted them or grinded a little here and their…seemed to pull the scope off to one side, making me use up windage to correct it. When you look at the rifle you can notice it is off to one side, and that drives me nuts. Anyway, I appeal to the many experts in this great forum for any past experience with whatever mounts, or adapters, or shims, or whatever has been utilized in scope mounting on airforce rifles. No such thing as over kill when it comes to good optics! Just about every one I know who is iinto AG’s, shoot them a LOT more than their powder burners. So put somthing on it you can really enjoy!

Here are the pics of the UTG rails and how I prefer the night vision and the IR enhancer in front of the bipod. I am entertaining the thought, as Maw suggessted. What do you think GTBJ??? Might even consider making a new forearm (longer one) or buying one. I love Tony’s but I don’t have the extra 165.00 to drop on em right now.

You can move the forearm grip back to the trigger, have you tried that yet?
GTBJ, those 30 mm rings from UTG look good. What a great price too. I will order some of those. Thanks. I tried to load pictures of the way it is mounted now, but I am a basically one step above computer illiterate…so I am getting frustrated. Whoever is reading this, let me know how to pull em off my computer, I forgot if I have to go to an image hosting website or not…duhhhh.
I like the one UTG rail that I put on the bottom of the frame in the front. This will allow me to put my IR there for the night vision. Now I am hoping that the forearm that I mounted the bipod to their holds up, but as you already told me, it wont. So when it strips, I need to figure out, or if you have any suggestions on a way to keep it there by drilling out some more holes and tapping….because if I was to move the bipod into the ideal position in front of the forearm like recommended by many pros on this forum, I would not be able to keep the peripheral rail for my IR, and I don’t think I can put it anywhere else accept way above the top of the scope itself, and if I choose to put it their, I have to by an 80.00 ring with a picatinny square attached to it for this mounting position, and I don’t want to waste 80.00. So far it hasn’t stripped, but when it does, I need to figure it out. Thanks for your advice.

Check Pyramid Air for 30mm mounts, there’s a few to choose from, but I can’t recommend any until I get a 30mm scope.
Not a dumb question about the rail… if I had to guess, it’d be because the straight tank/butt design doesn’t allow for a decent cheek weld to sight low along the barrel, so you gotta set things up high.
Awesome, thanks buzzcat! I had a really good optic laying around that I figured I’d use on the condor. It is a Leupold mark IV tactical with target knobs and GG&G tactical rings. It is 30mm. It is overkill for a condor, but It has been waiting to go on something and it looks good on the condor. Any suggestions for 30 mm rings?? For now I am going to remove the shims and dial it up so I can at least have fun with it. Here is a “dumb” question: Why is the scope rail on the condor so much higher than the barrel??? I guess it has something to do with the arc of the pellet, but I am just learning about pellet ballistics. Thanks for your help.
