valve choice for altaros reg
Hi!
Have a 21inch barrel in .22 and was pondering on which valve would be the best choice with an altaros regulator
to get say 900 fps with usb 18.1 gr. and why.
I have a standard condor high flow valve and a talon ss .177 valve to choose between.
Sure many of you have experience and views on this.

Ooops Sorry about that and I have edited the post.
It’s a condor high flow valve and a talon SS .177 valve.
Yes, I have an altaros reg and I set it up to 125 bar.

With this setting and using the talon .177 valve ( valve return spring tension has been slightly reduced as it is pretty stiff for the .177) on the .22 barrel, 21 inches length,
I get 735 fps with 21.3 bisley magnums i.e. about 25 fpe. Also, the hammer and hammer spring are standard talon without any added weight and power wheel at zero.
Will have to try out pushing the power wheel to the max and again with the power wheel at max plus added hammer weight to see if there is a difference.
With this setting and by increasing the reg pressure to say 140 bar it would be possible to get 30 fpe. and fulfil my goal.
The reason for the post was because when using a standard condor high flow valve and heavy hammer I got around 900 plus fps at 135 bar setting but a lot of air was wasted
and the blast sounded prolonged. This led me to believe that the valve remained open for too long.
The way out would be to use a stiffer valve return spring and smaller ports to get the balance right.
These are just my thoughts.
