Q:

Valve Leak

Hi guys,

Since I’ve had my Condor, there has been a slow leak around the valve stem. How do I go about repairing this. I’ll probably have to empty the tank but what do I look for inside? Another thing I’ve noticed, is that once it reaches 2000psi it stops leaking-i fill to 2500psi. Should I just leave it as it is?

Thanx Nick.

Thanx Tag, that helps a ton. The leak is around the valve stem. Luckily not through the valve/tophat. I’ll try what you said.

Nick,
If its leaking around the base of the valve stem, then its the oring under the top brass bonet. If thats the case you might fix it by draining the tank of all air and snuging the top bonet down a bit more.
If its leaking thru the valve stem, then its the delrin seal on the back of the stem. 1st put as much preload on the hammer spring as possible via power wheel and dryfire it a few times at about 2,000psi. That might seal down past leaking. If those things dont work you’ll have to drain the tank, remove the valve and replace the seals.

Hope this helps,
