Q:

Valve Problem

I have a problem I don’t recall seeing addressed here. I have an old style Condor tank I bought used and can’t get decent velocity with it. I initially put it on a stock Talon and it wouldn’t even push the pellet out of the barrel. I added some washers experimenting with the hammer weight and spring tension with little improvement. I had a brass spacer machined that added about 20 grams of weight plus a good fit but only achieved a little over 200 fps. I shipped it off to a friend that tried it on his Condor with virtually the same results.

I have taken the valve apart and see absolutely nothing wrong. I have experimented with fill pressure and I have even tried a lighter spring with no help. Does anyone have any sugestions I can try? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Gene

Well, I’m still not sure of what the problem was with the old valve. I did however take WOK’s suggestion and bought the necessary components to upgrade. For roughly $61.00 I got everything needed and that included the additional condor hammer weight since I was putiing in an ss. I am extremely pleased with the results so far. I really haven’t had the opportunity (mainly due to the weather) to fine tune things but I got a 1039 fps reading with Kodiaks right away filled to 190 bar. I’m pretty confident 1050 or more is there.

You guys were right, the new style valve is the way to go. I strongly urge anyone considering the upgrade to do it. Unfortunately, I now have a new problem; this sucker is loud! That though will be a little more enjoyable to work on:)

Thanks everyone!

Yes, the old Condor valve is a friggin’ POS! I used to have one and now I have the new valve system. The bottom of the valve stem on the older version would rise from its delrin seat periodically, and it would cause a lot of low power shots to just plain ol’ duds. That really pissed me off. The newer valves completely erases that problem. So go for it and get yourself the updated Condor valve system from Airforce as you’ll get nothing but migraines over the old POS valves. I’m hoping you didnt’ throw your Condor to the ground because of it yet! 😉

I had the same, stem rising out of the seal in my talon. In the end It was the the seal that was at fault as I’ve not had It happen again since changing It. It would develop a lip Inside and the 45 degree shoulder area would push out so It was flat!!

I never screw It all the way home. You can reduce power by screwing It right It. I usually screw It In with the stem In place and then when the stem stops rising I give It another 1/4 turn and that should do It.

Are you screwing the spring retainer In all the way?

Should the retainer be all the way in?

Thanks WOK; that’s the way I’ll go!

Yes,

That will get you up to date.

I called Air Force regarding the issue and was told I could send it to them and they would check it, for a fee of course, and obviously more to repair. I have enough tied up in it now, I’m not going to spend more trying to get it to work. She told me I could purchase the parts you are talking about WOK for $45.00. I think it’s probably wise to go that route.

Will it then be the same as the new hi-flow valve?

Thanks guys!

Take that old condor valve stem and brass retainer and throw it out. It will give you more headaches then it is worth.

You can order a new brass insert, valvestem, tophatt, delrin valve, spring retainer and spring for a new condor valve for a few bucks.

Dont waist your time on the POS VALVE.

Yes

Are you screwing the spring retainer In all the way?
