Valve removal
Is there a tutorial with pics on how to remove a valve from the tank? It looks like there are set screws holding it in place, and then the valve is threaded into the tank body. I tried to remove the set screws, but they won’t budge, so I guess there is some kind of thread locker in use.
I plan to use a heat gun to heat up the set screws, and then try and remove the valve while holding the “tank” in a leather scrap held in a vise.
Are there any tips or tricks I should know ahead of time?
Specifically, I am trying to put a CO2 adapter valve (hi-flo I believe) into a 3000psi paintball tank that currently has a 1400 psi regulator in it. I need to get the valve out of the CO2 adapter, and into the tank.

Hi, I was thinking the same thing, putting the co2 valve on a reg and a paint ball tank…..called Airforce and she said the thought the co2 valve has the 22 cal spring…..anyone help?
Buy the Tool for $15 from Marmot Militia…. Its nice to have and takes the hassle out of removing the valve 😕
I used a bolt that fit in the hole on the side of the valve and used the back side of a crescent wrench to turn it.
Thanks moneyshot. The unit is not attached to a tank so there is no pressure. I put the coupler in a vise, heated it until it was hot to the touch, then attempted to remove the valve with no luck. 🙁
also, im unsure if this is still the case, but the brass insert on the co2 valves has a larger orifice.
that is the burst disc, and the other side is specifically for installation/removal.
they hold nothing in place, but DO NOT try to remove the burst disc under pressure.

The screw is only on one side, and on the other side is just a hole. Do I just leave the screw alone, and use a rod to turn the valve?

just make sure the tank is empty and follow d100s instruction.

There are no set screws. Make sure it is empty and take a 5/16″ rod and put it in the hole on the side of valve and turn the valve will holding the tank. Might have to heat the tank right at the threads Just a little. Nothing over 150 degrees.

I have a hi-flow tank and the tophat surely looks to be the same size….thinking of trying mr gaska’s reg setup….
