Valve Stem Slipping
I thought I had my 25 all straightened out and shooting regulated at 930. Yesterday I wanted to confirm this and took the gun out to the chrony and shot a pellet. I believe it was in in the low 800’s, shot a few more and the velocity start to rise. It never got back to 930 though. After watching the video of resurfacing the regulator seat I thought that might be something to try and give the regulator a good inspection at the same time. I was bleeding the AT down and while it was bleeding I started to remove the receiver when I heard a little pop almost like a O-ring releasing pressure. I pulled the receiver off and noticed the valve stem was sticking out of the body about 1/2″. I was thinking “that ain’t right”. It should be right at 1/4″ exposed. So now I’m wondering is this hasn’t been a lot of my trouble with the screwed up “no fires” and erratic velocities. If it’s slipping back and forth I would think the hammer energy would be greatly affected. Called Ernest, and he pretty much confirmed. I’m going to send the gun to Ernest and get him straighten it out later this month. Damn it been a pain in the ass!!
