Q:

Valves

How the hell you all been????!!!! Just popping in to say hi and answer some emails.

For those of you waiting for development of the new valve bodies, sorry; been smashed as usual at work. To add insult to injury, I now have to slap together a 10/22 for my son to play with.

I have nearly completed a small run of brass valve inserts to go with the new valve stems. Several people are waiting for me to post numbers to go with these pieces (Sorry for the wait Jerry). Will get to it. Eventually.

walt

Man time flies!
The brass body inserts are done. I am trying to make up the steel valve stems (one piece) but destroyed one of the prototypes trying to do a 2nd and 3rd operation on it. I have ordered new tooling (different type of collet system so they won’t be destroyed on the subsequent operations) which hopefully will solve the problems. Hope the tooling gets here this week, if so I”ll post some pics this weekend and try to get some numbers up. Thanks for your patience.

Note; the initial run will be 10 valves. 2 are already going to Assman, poor guy has been waiting forever for me to get off MY ass and finish them. The rest will go out on first come-first served basis. I’m not taking orders, sorry. Will just post here when they are ready and have some numbers to show the performance that can be expected. making this series of them, though, has convinced me that it’s just too time consuming to do this on a large scale. I’m actually training an apprentice on the lathe and will ask him if he wants to continue the run, if anyone is interested in getting more done he can work with you guys.

zilog, made a few extras. These are not complete valves, just a brass insert and a bigger valve stem. Will post more later.

Sounds like you need a holiday Walt. I really need to get on this forum more as I totally missed you where even making valves to sell. Any spare going?

Goodness me, walter, you sound… almost…. cheerful? 🙂

don’t chew me out for saying so!

it’s 2am and can’t sleep. Large file review coming up tomorrow. ugh. and in the middle of it, plans for pinning up my 10/22 bolt keep coming into my head… i have an irresistible urge to go out to the garage and measure the headspace and firing pin stickout. eyes all gummed up from lack of sleep… but can’t resist…
