Q:

Veles = awesome

Hi all,

I have been drooling over the Veles for quite some time now and when I learned that my local supplier had a .22 in stock I grabbed a handfull of cash, jumped into my car and drove off to claim it.

As soon as I got home I put a few (10) pellets through the chrony with results between 241-242 m/s (791-794 fps) using the 15.89 grains JSB’s… absolutely awesome and the exact same velocity I reach with my .22 Lelya, even though that is with the heavier 18.13 grains JSB’s.

The grip feels great in the hand and I was quite surprised that I kept holding it in a cradle kind of position rather than with an extended arm… just felt great that way.

The only negative was that the moderator for some reason didn’t line up well and resulted in pellet clipping… so instead I put on my slightly larger Weihrauch moderator and the problem was solved.

Awesome gun… cant wait for hunting season to begin. This will be my shoot-rabbits-and-pheasants-out-the-window-gun

Still haven’t decided on which scope though 🙁

Which one is more quiet, and backyard friendly?
Assuming the single edgun moderator for both cases. Also how much does the double moderation help the lelya?

Awny

I loooove the Velez so much but just wish it could have a little fill gauge on it. My gauge that came with my tank from Joes Airtanks sucks.

What’s Fry saying? Oh yeah.”Shut uo and take my money! Yeah, a lot of money. Don’t remind me. Got a viable option? Juuuuust askin’, Seriously.

Juuuust sayin…

Impressive gun.

Very nice

Q I think the Lela would suit me better for point-and-shoot. Both guns do look AWESOME, but I can only go with one at a time. I guess I’m thinking the Leyla again. I feel like I’m twisting in the wind on this decision making process. I really appreciate your posting the sizes. What did you say your Veles was shooting at?
thank you again,
Darryl

Darryl,

I will try to find the time this weekend for a string with the standard and heavy .22 JSB’s

Regarding the moderator, mine was included with the Veles but according to another member, future versions will come either with a moderator fixed to the gun or without moderator, buyers choice.

Lelya vs. Veles? If I had to choose between them I would probably go for the Lelya… both are unique but the Lelya is more versatile I guess and at 781 ft/s with the .22 JSB heavies it’s packing a serious punch.

Here are the measurements btw;

Q

It’a impressive that your Veles is making 22 fpe. Can you post a shot string? I have to admit I’m having a hard time trying to decide between the Veles and the Leyla. I saw this recent video of the Leyla in .177: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKWj_Bhb8ws I know I want one or the other for plinking and quiet small pest removal. Does the Veles come with the moderator? I think if I’d drop the Veles into a short carbine stock I might as well go with the Leyla. I once put a Brocock Grand Prix into a Blaster stock, and it felt outstanding to shoot. It made 12.24 fpe with 18 grain pellets, one hole at 30 yard: http://s984.photobucket.com/user/Flyby1/library/Brocock%20for%20sale?sort=3&page=1

I guess I need more info on both. Any info you can provide about these two and their differences would be very much appreciated. They both look excellent. How long are each one in the pictures?

Edgun vs Weihrauch moderator

I think i like the edgun one better. Its a lot smaller, equally quiet and better looking

Unfortunately, when i screw it onto the veles it points slightly to the left, leading to pellet clipping. The abive is not an issue with the lelya + edgun moderator.

The weihrauch moderator have a few metal baffles inside which i didnt try to take out.

No pictures??? that’s so cruel….

Same experience I have with my Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10×32 FFP. Spec says 35 yds parallax but I can focus on objects down to 15 yds, maybe even closer but at the lowest magnification. Good info on your Vortex. Now I know what’s next on my shopping list!

You can have a clear image at 20 yards, no problem but not at high(est) magnification… you would probably have to mag out a little to get that super sharp image but you are being closer to the target so I guess it doesn’t matter much.

Q

Even though it’s a 50 yds parallax scope, you can still focus down to 25 yds and still have a clear image? Can it go lower, say 20 yds with a clear image?

ElmerFudd,

With parallax set at 50 yards and the target being at 25 yards the maximum parallax error is about 0,48 inches… I only hunt with my R3/Vortex combo and for that purpose the possible parallax error has been of very little importance.

Chairgun Pro has a maximum parallax error tool which you can play around with (Toolbox –> Maximun parallax error).

The scope itself is great and I can’t remember ever missing a shot with it.
