Q:

Velocity goes way UP when off the regulator…?

Can you guys please help with this one?

When my .22 Vulcan goes off the reg, velocity goes UP significantly, from about 870’s to 895’s. Then it finally drops low at around shot 84.

Look at the chrony string below, the much higher velocities are in red. I filled to 205 bar and I’m shooting 18.1 grain JSBs.

What causes this?
More importantly: what can I do about it?

that’s perfect, I was after such a photo. Nice one.
will do it the same today!

will use a torx bit to be on the safe side
thanks benj

I turned the rail so I could use 2 regular rings in their proper place on a MTC Connect scope. Works fine. I did strip the allen hole in one of the rail screws but I cut a slot in it with a dremel and got it out. Replaced it with a new screw.

Here’s a photo.

i Love the vulcan

Hi Kris
Did your Vulcan came with short hammer spring and a spacer? And what was the power at 200 bar.

ok guys I am getting the same, …update from later, you have to either match the hammer tension to the reg setting or opposite, lower the reg output.
works as a treat

Don’t go near my honey hole….. We have orders to shoot on site trespassers…………………… :5:

PB the EDgun fix was after 10K rounds, not my second day owning it. 🙄 So the point is still the same, that I made in my original post.

did you miss this part of my post?

No, I got it. I will give it time, got a bunch of tins to go. It has a nice string for 5 magazines. Spinners beware! Birds too, when I get back to Zonk’s barns.

I will increase the HST to see if I can get it up to 880 fps under the regulator.

If you turn your HST another 1/4 turn or so it should get you to 880-890 fps.
After which high shot #69 at 900 fps should no longer show up in the new crony shot spread.

Shoot the living hell out of her and enjoy the ride, it should be a smooth one for ya from what I’ve seen the Vulcan can do if you let it sometime before fuxing with the inners.

Keyser, it is funny though that you say to leave it alone (which I will) but your guns that had the same issue were fixed either by itself or by you. 😀

Pret it looks like reg is set for 880. Turn hammer spring till you hit that number and your good to go

I agree keyser. If your gun is shooting exceptionally well keep your paws off of it. When you see problems then go digging around and fix what’s wrong. I leave well enough alone.

That is pretty common on all regulated PCP guns. I have had 20 FPS jump on my EDgun and Cricket. The Cricket fixed itself but the Edgun needed some adjustment. I pulled the regulator and cleaned off the grease. I re-applied high quality grease and I was home free. The biggest mistake airgunners do in my opinion is obsess about their new gun. We are all too quick to look for a problem and pulling guns apart without giving the gun a chance.

I have a friend who constantly pulls his gun apart anytime he sees a shot string like you just posted. He has had so many problems with his guns that I am sure he is about to quit airguns. He always claims that I get lucky with my airgun purchases. “You never seem to have problems with your guns, you’re are a lucky asshole” he says. ‘Want to know why?” I said to him. “I don’t fuck with my guns”. If I can shoot the same hole at 50 yards and a 1/2-3/4 MOA at a 100 I don’t care what the shot string looks like. How do I know I can trust my chrony? I said. I have a 150 dollar tool judging a 1500 dollar one. Your target will not lie. Be patient, shoot the gun a lot, let it break in then you’ll really know if you should tear into the gun or not.
