Ventilating frame near breech…
Has anyone reading this thread ventilated their frame, appx. 2″ above the breech? Hoot has been kind enough to share his insight with me, and before I run with his drill my frame with 6-8, 1/32 holes, I would like some additional real world feedback on this mod. As Hoot has told me, it will not make your rifle quiet, but it will help quiet your rifle.
I have already drilled underneath the forearm grip, and I am just contemplating this next mod before going crazy on my new .25 cal Talondor frame. I would like to be able to shoot this rifle the vast majority of the time without a moderator in my back yard, and I am so close to having it backyard friendly that I am hoping this mod is the last and final mod to achieve the level of quiet I need.
Can anyone share their experience with me on drilling your AF frame near the breech? to Hoot… thank you kindly for sharing your wisdom on this mod.

You will note that Hoot said where it has “nothing but barrel”. This means ahead of the first or muzzle end bushing. Since you have a ventilated front bushing, you can put your holes just behind it, and ahead of the rear most bushing. But you say you already have holes in the hand guard area. So you already have done this.
You didn’t say how many or how large you already have, or I missed it.
I put the holes in the hand guard back when it still had one, and put a bit of open cell foam in there. It did help a bit! 😉
Kinda sounds like O’l UNK Hoot was calling the entire frame the Breach. Oooop’s! 😆

Correction, Is it just me, or does it appear the aforementioned is suggesting to vent 2″ ahead of the breech on an AF TalonP? See thread here: http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=29014
D-A-M-N, thanks Knife, that would have been U-G-L-Y. A real cluster. Sorry Hoot, if I misunderstood you. My bad, I was referring to an AF rifle. Fellow forum members and astute air-gunners both in this galaxy and elsewhere, please disregard and forgive me for any reference I made to ventilating in front of the breech of a AF rifle.
I already have a ventilated front bushing, and I ventilated the frame above the fore grip, so my ventilation days are O-V-E-R.

Oh Hell No! 😯 Hoot was talking about ventilation in front of the breach on a cricket. 😉 The hammer and spring is in front of the breach of the AF Guns. YOU DON’T want to cause any chatter in there!
What you can do is drill holes in the forward bbl., bushing and drill the frame in between the two bushings. If you drill the rear bushing, you will have lead shavings and dust from the ldc backing up and contaminating your hammer spring travel. It will also find its way into the trigger group. And make sure that you use a rubber type washer in front of the rear bushing, or machine it for an “0” ring to keep the lead dust from making it past the rear bushing.
