Q:

Veteran 25 cal owners…can I get input?

Hey guys any info would be helpful for me. I currently have a Vulcan gen 2 in 25, Benjamin Mrod gen 1 in 22 (factory barrel that is very accurate out to 60-70 yds) and Veteran 22 shorty. I use these guns for hunting small game in Alabama 80% of the time. I’m thinking I would like a Veteran 25, maybe sell Vulcan or Benjamin. Questions I have:
1) shot count with JSB 25gr
2) how is performance with JSB 34gr MK-I and MK II and shot count
3) at what max distance can you maintain 1MOA consistently (7 out of 10 shots)
4) any problems shooting 26gr Polymags

I appreciate your time and response!

Kypop and Mike,

I think it’s great that you guys love your Tiapan Veterans’. And I’m thinking of buying one, however I finding it hard to get the information that I’m seeking in the Original Post. Everyone says how much they love their Vet in 25. And I get that but I’m considering selling my Vulcan 25 to fund the Vet in 25. That’s why I asked the questions in the Original Post. So how do yours perform in regards to the questions in the Original Post? Please.

That’s the same with my 22’s. Most of the time birds go down ok but larger critters don’t always. My .25 Veteran standard takes the “ifyness” out of the equation if I’m even close to a good shot. When it absolutely, positively has to be eliminated – I go with the .25.

Wow sounds like you got a really cool hunting area, Euro doves,30 % sparrows ,65% Grackles, 3% other 2%
Not sure what you hunt , But with my 22s its sometimes a I think I got it,maybe a little chase a few follow up shots.
With the 25 everything pretty well stays planted unless I goof the shot up, But then its lights out in a few feet.
If you hunt and you like the veteran 22 , You will love the 25, That’s a promise from me.
oh if you want to keep them short and silent, Its called fat boy, a must have

Mike, Yes I primarily hunt with my PCPs. I hunt the Upper Mobile Delta WMA (40,000) acres of Forever Wild Management public land in Mobile and Baldwin counties. Started with 25 cal Vulcan and got Veteran shorty in 22 this summer. Where I hunt…lots of walking through open Bottom land, so Vulcan can get heavy at times. The Veteran shorty is easier on me. Been having great success with vet 22 this year. Often I can get shots of 60 to 75 yds in some spots and the 25 cal performs best with those shots (fpe). So was considering the Vet in 25. I really hate thinking about selling Vulcan though! However after spending about 5k on this indevor, I’m wondering about my sanity! :winkn: Probably will save more $$ and keep them all LOL.

How does your 25 Vet perform based on questions in the OP?

Are you thinking about a Veteran shorty or Long?
I got the shorty 25 , I think of it as more of a hunting gun, Short, light and super accurate.

Slinger, Thanks for your reply. I have lots of JSB 25, 34 (I and II ) and 26 Polymags that I’ve shot with Vulcan. Kinda up in the air on selling it to get Veteran 25. Again thank you.

Never ran a full shot string but its gonna be close to 40 shots maybe a few more before falling off the reg and I lost count of how many shots down to 120 bar. At 120 bar, I could see a POI shift @ 50 yards so I stopped.
I turned mine down to 910 fps with the 25 grain JSBs. I found I pretty much eliminated the fliers. It prints just over 1 MOA at 100 yards.
Turned it up 860 fps and Tried shooting the MK 2s but I didn’t like the 2″ groups at 100 yards. A real surprise was the H&N Grizzlies. Shooting the Grizzlies at 850 fps I was able to keep an average of 1.25 MOA at 100 yards.
I have some polymags and some MK 1s in the mail and will test them next week.
Pretty sure if I was a little better shot I could tighten those groups a little!
