Video camera?
What is a good easy to use vidoe camera I could get to video some of my shots? I’d really like something that very internet freindly..haha.. thanks!

Sony and Panasonic make good video equipment be it camcorders or TVs. I’ve only had good experiences with both these brands so far. I currently own a Sony HDRSR-11 which was last years model.
Most Cameras that have a lot of features also have a “simple mode” which allows anybody to use it in its basic function (disabling advanced features) If you never owned a digital camcorder before, you will undergo a serious learning curve on how to use one.
You have to ask yourself:
Do I want full HD (1080 X 1920 resolution)? Some cameras call themselves HD but have a resolution less then 1080 X 1920. A Good way to tell is look for support of AVCHD or MPEG4 format. Check the Video record resolution specs
What type of storage media, Hard Drive, Flash, DVD, MiniDV? IMO the fewer moving parts the better. Flash is best but still limited in size and expensive. Good for battery run time. HD provides lots of storage but can’t take rough handling. Uses more power then Flash but less then DVD and MiniDV (tape) I’d avoid getting anything with DVD or MiniDV it’s outdated and too mechanical.
Size of CCD (image sensor) The more pixels the better right? High Definition requires only 2,073,600 pixels to capture allowing for one pixel per intersection. If the camera has “Image Stabilization” You’ll want one with three times the pixel size (>6 Megapixel). One thing to consider is cameras with a large CCD will take JPEG photos with a high resolution as well.
Zoom Capability, Optic vs. Digital. Optic is magnification by the lens and is clear and sharp. Digital is by the image. As the image gets larger it also becomes “Pixely”
Run time on battery and battery options. This can vary widely depending on Manufacture and model
These are only some “basic” questions. Then you get into the features. I took about 12 hours researching before making my selection. It just depends on how much you want to spend and quality your expecting.
I dont know, I think the sony was abput $400.00
How much you willing to spend and what features are you looking for?
I’m no computer/camera expert so this is a bigger deal for me than some others but my JVC records in a .MOD file extension. This is not compatible with windows movie maker so I have to get another program to do any editing with my clips. The program that comes with the camera sucks ass and is not very intuitive. There may be a patch or workaround that I haven’t figured out to get the file to play in WMM but I get frustrated with computer crap easily, I’d rather be doing something else.
This is why I still haven’t got a decent clip up of the shroud I made yet.

I took an old scope mount, drilled and tapped for 1/4″ threads. I then placed a short piece of all thread with a stop nut. You can screw all most any digital or video camera to it. I have had no problems with it.
Not the best of pics, but you can get the idea.
