Viton or Buta-N
Ordering o-ring replacements for the mrodair Air Max compressor. Should I get viton or buta-N? Viton is more expensive but has higher heat tolerance (400F) than buta-N (275F).

The Viton does seem a reasonable upgrade from BUNA. BUNA has better abrasion and low temperature performance, but neither of those are an issue in the Airmax. I think it would be OK to give the Viton rings a try.
One of highest temperature o-ring is at the high pressure head cap, around the output valve. I never got a chance to try out the silicone rings I ordered for that location. All those rings went with the compressor when I gave my unit to Michael M. Hopefully, he will report on whether the silicone rings work well in that location.
{EDIT] Michael M. confirms that the silicone o-rings works “great” at the high pressure cylinder cap.
