Q:

Vulcan .25 Hush Shroud sound levels….

Just did some testing with my new sound meter and found the highest reading to be 84db with the meter 1 ft in front of muzzle. Strange that placing the meter closer yields a lower reading, but it is what it is. My .177 Vulcan with the MiniMod comes in at 74db with the meter 8″ in front of the muzzle. Why the difference in positioning between the 2 guns is not understood by me!

Hoot, you might have nailed it.

:hoot:

Could be the “Ping” frequency has a stronger influence on the meter than the lower frequency muzzle blast. In that case, closer meter position to the muzzle might read different than further back.

That is strange?? Doesn’t make sense at all.
