Vulcan Leak fixed
Hey gents, I had a small leak in my Vulcan, so I thought I would share my fix. I found the leak at the de-gassing screw on the air cylinder. if you have to remove the screw all the way because of a leak be careful of the small detent ball that sits under the screw. Losing that little ball would make for a bad day. Another bugaboo is the bolt assembly pushes the barrel forward about 1 millimeter when the air tube bands are released. It’s barely noticeable. This causes pellet probe not to fully seat into the chamber. If this happens you will feel a painful twang on your face as well as a little blow by. To prevent the barrel from moving slightly push the bolt back so to remove tension and then make sure the barrel is fully seated. To fix my leak I just used a little teflon paint on the threads and now I’m back in business.
Under the gauge is the fill screw, so if you want to fill your vulcan faster you can just back that little screw out slightly.

The barrel should be held in place at the top of the breech with a tiny hex screw. This does two things…hold the barrel and keep it from sliding forward, and keeps it alighned with the air valves transfer port so you get full air when you pull the trigger.
Be very careful if you loosen that tiny hex screw in mention. I tightened mine and the head snapped off the damn thing. Now I’m waiting for some reverse drill bits to try to remove it. It’s so small. I’m replacing all my hex screws with phillip’s head screws which are much less apt to strip or break their heads off. I might show a picture after supper this evening. Then again I might not.

I have installed a small o ring under the ball bearing, in the degasser port.
Had a leak, which is gone and no need to overtighten the grubscrew
problem solved. and can keep on using the grubscrew to vent the gun, non extra tool needed
…where would the blowby happen, wondering if my barrel did not move when I had my air tank out, the action is still loud. will have to test with the lighter

I ordered one of Ernest’s delrin bushing mods to lower the hst noise. Is it hard to install? Any thoughts? Pictures?

Nice work Sir Soze it’s always helpful when folks take their guns apart and help other air gunners out. Not everyone can send their stuff out to Ernest especially for the easier fixes.

bugger, I could have detune my gun (lowered the power then by rotating the barrel) instead of lowering the plenum volum by sticking delrin spacers in there.
