Q:

Vulcan plastic hard case

I’ve been considering buying a Vulcan but could not decide between .22 and .25.

One of the things I really liked was the plastic hard case. Now I see that the latest shipments come only with a soft case.

Does any one know where to buy a hard case exactly the same size as the Vulcan’s?

BTW, what are the dimensions of the Vulcan hard case? Looks like ID of 12 x 30 inches.

I too am worried about the louder sound of the .25 but after reading Hoots mods for the shroud, I am going with the .25. See thread “On the potential to reduce muzzle blast of the .25 Vulcan…”. An LDC is not an option as this rifle will be used on public land.

Also I figure that if the power is turned down to the same FPE of a .22, the sound should be about the same but the trajectory would drop more with the heavier .25 pellets. I can live with the pellet drop.

A forum member is selling me their hard case! Thanks to everyone for their input!

Any who’s owned both a .22 and .25 at the same time and can comment on the difference in sound? Is the .25 much louder than the .22 as is the case for almost all airguns?

Personally if I had the option to save $50 and not get the hard or soft case that would be the best option. Lots of great cases to meet “your” needs out there that you can buy on your dime. As luck would probably have it, the price won’t change on the Vulcan with or without a case.

:thumb: again, I agree.

The hard case is lame. Don’t worry about not having one. They are really only meant for shipping anyway. It may look cool but the case is pretty much worthless. Get a .25, I have not seen a single .25 yet with a problem. I have taken starlings out to 160 yards with the .25.

I’d be willing to swap my hard case for your soft one when you get it.

quote Zonk:

n3 go with the .25. no one seems to be having any problems with velocity change.

Ditto….the .25 can be easily powered down, with the HST, to equal fps/fpe and shot count of the .22! So far, mine has been dead on accurate, and steady in holding accuracy.

Further, you can buy a wide variety of .25 pellets from as light as 19gr up to 42 gr hollow point slugs. It’s a more versatile gun than the .22 caliber…in my opinion.

You may be happier with the softy. Several members have been suggesting several different soft cases and may just sell their hard case for a little $ plus shipping. Why not:?: They aren’t happy with the hard case ❓
The hard case is plastic and a little bit flexible on the sides. I like it. But i’d bet the softy will be real nice. :tag:

The inner dimensions on the hard case are 32″x11″. The handle hole narrows down to 10″. Some are reporting it doesn’t fit with the larger scopes but mine fits snugly.
