Vulcan Tactic .22 power problems

Hello, I have been reading this forum for a long time, and bought a few years ago a TalonP because of the reviews I read here. A year ago I bought a used (mint condition) Vulcan Tactic .22 that shoots amazing groups (by my standard!).

As I started using it a little more I started having more flyers and the sound of the hammer hitting the valve changed (ping), I chronoed the vulcan yesterday and the velocity was in the 930s with JSB 18grs, so I played with the hammer turning it clockwise, and counter clockwise, but the velocity never changed :sadn:

So could someone please tell me if there is a specific way of turning the hammer or if it might be any other problem, the velocity spread is quite good, so I understand that it is not a regulator problem, as it stays in the 920 to 935 for at least 60 shots from 240 to 120bar

have you got a ruler? :rofl:

there are threads here just do the reading. if you show us the hammer spring someone can say if it is the right one.

Thank you Kris for you reply!, the thing is that when I bought the Vulcan the previous owner had set a velocity of 890 with JSB18gr and it was a tack driver, 3 tins later I started to see flyers and some pellets that seem to travel from right to left, I cleaned it and chronoed it and that is where I saw the velocity was faster than it used to be.

The problem is that no matter if I screw the hammer spring all in or all out the velocity doesn´t change, it stays put at 930, and I did it without the side plate in order to see if the spring was getting compressed… 🙄

I don´t want to mess too much with the internals as quality PCPs get incredibly expensive here in Argentina, for a reference a new vulcan costs USD 3500, FX Impact USD 3700, a chinese huben USD 2200.

Could it be something with the valve stem or something like that :confusedn:

trust me if you cut some coils off your hammer spring, at some point you will get less power.

sounds like your reg pressure is too low, your hammer is too high.or you have unecessary long spring. i have seen
the gun will make power but is unable to go over a certain fps with the current regulator output.

how long is your hammer spring, maybe someone with a .22 can compare with you.

is the power the same at 120bar and when you fill up to 250bar? if yes the reg is fine (you were saying that) so i dont see any power issue.

can you explain to us how you worked out that there is a relationship between this and your fliers?

personally i would make sure it is 120bar setting of the reg, then detune the hammerspring until velocity starts dropping and leave it in that knee. either too high hammer or long spring or too low reg setting, the ping maybe the knock open valve opening too wide or the hammer smacking into the action.
if you had a spare spring you could cut it shorter, 930 is plenty i would not go higher.

have you visually inspected the internals? i mean for a start, just remove the side panels to see whats going on. man common sense. maybe you can just spot something just by looking into it.
perhaps you shot some quiet guns along with this one, and suddenly you find Vulcan pingy LOL.
